Storing agar in the fridge and one of the wedges shrunk
    #26913033 - 09/02/20 12:50 AM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Has this happened to anyone else? I will upload a photo when I get a chance.

I have 3 master wedges in my fridge, and one of them has shrunk considerable. They are in mini-rounds with a micropore tape covered hole, if that makes a difference.

Thanks, love you all (except that one dude).

.

Consider putting your master strains in a slant with a woodchip instead of a petri? Ive always heard that if u want to keep a plate for long to make thick agar and pour it thick as well so it doesn't shrivel. :pipesmoke2:

Ive had a couple of pasty plates for too long that are shriveled to hell cause I poured em like a little bitch and also had no clue how to prep agar, still good myc for projects though.

I feel like a doof. I had a back issue that put me out of commission, and this thread totally slipped my mind. I appreciate the advice given.

Anyway, heres a picture. In retrospect, it looks like this plate wasn't 100% colonized, causing the shrinking.
