Fruiting conditions?
    #26912623 - 09/01/20 07:20 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Hello friends! First time cultivating, and so far so good, well at least I think lol. On the 17th of August I birthed and crushed my colonized jars into a bulk substrate, inside some shoe boxes. The first three pictures are of the first shoebox and the rest are of the second. The sub is very/coir and spawn came from a ms syringe. These pictures below were taken on the 31st of August. Are they ready to fruit? And if so, do they need more FAE/misting? How can I recognize the difference?

For a first timer I'm pretty anxious of getting it right.
I greatly appreciate your help.

You don`t need to give fae during colonization, just a bit passive air movement from the start. Just mist for a proper surface like in your 4th pic.
It may be the picture, but it looks a bit "webby" at the upper side.
The first box seems to be a bit too wet, i`d give a little more air.
But always hard to tell from pics.
Just compare your surface with pics from the link, and fruiting will start on its own.
With shoeboxes, you just let them do from the start.

Is "webby" a bad thing? How do I remedy this?
It's been two weeks since I've made the boxes, how long until primordia formation?

I don`t wanna write shit here, perhaps it isn`t.
If it`s all the same colour, it`s ok.
You just don`t want any grey patches compared with white mycelium.
Cobweb likes to come with stall air.
You didn`t seal up your boxes for stall air?

No, the boxes weren't sealed, I had originally had 3 boxes but one did have grey cobweb contam and I immediately identified it and chucked it out. The other two, with regards to contam, look great.
