That desk fan will not cut it for a circulation fan. Like I said you need the air moving in your tent. It doesn't have to move much but it has to move in all parts of the tent. You can use an incense stick or anything that makes a little smoke so you can see the air is moving. I use my vape and blow it through a straw.

What kind of flapper do you have that covers your intake and actually opens when the exhaust fan is running? I currently leave mine on all the time.

I have a bunch of 2nd flush blue oysters I soaked over the last couple days. They really started coming last night. They still look stringy, and I have the 4" circulation fans installed. I hung pieces of tape in all the corners of the tent, high, low, front, back, front of the shelves, back of the shelves, and everywhere in between. They all move. Yet the mushrooms still looked stringy.

All I can do is add a larger exhaust fan it seems. Remember, this is a little 137ft³ tent with a 100cfm exhaust fan. For 8 air exchanges/ hr the fan needs to move 1096ft³in 1 hour. To JUST meet that and work around the clock I only need an 18cfm exhaust fan. I bet the fan I have isn't moving what it's rated at, but I don't think it's running at less than 18% of what it's rated at.

I would think I am I taking sir through the humidifier duct. Does the placement of the exhaust fan work? I have duct connected to the tent, and this fan is outside drawing air via suction from within the tent through the duct. Does the fan need to be in the tent and pushing its exhaust your through a duct?

On another note, the shiitakes in this link are about 35 days old. They're not brown and barky, but there are lots of little mushrooms popping up in the bag. Should I cut em open, spray em with a cold hose, and let em fruit? http://imgur.com/a/JR0h8cw

They are fruiting too early. Probably due to à sudden temp changé. You should incubate at least 7 weeks. And that's strict minimum. If They fruit prématuré either the temps in incubation changed or you got à conta, bacterial or other that forces them to fruit. The bag look pretty ok though. :frenchie:

And yes if they're pinning invitro, fruit 'em, they won't stop anyway!

I missed this one...

Ok. So should I just spray em with a house outside and then throw em in the fruiting tent? I'd like to try that way . Spray em everyday after opening for 3 days.

I put a 6" vicodin exhaust fan on last night. WAY too much. Definitely getting exhaust now. Instead of running all the time now I'm going to run it 2mins on then 5 mins off around the clock.

I noticed that even though the first fan I had on was listed as a 4" exhaust fan the box says 4" inline cut fan. No suction into it can be felt like it can be on 4" and 6" exhaust fan variants I tried- ultimately opting for the 6".

I believe the impeller design id different or something and that I have never been exhausting anything at all.

I wouldn't spray them with a house. A hose maybe but not a house!!

Good thinking! That probably wouldn't help my cause.

I've had a couple second flushes of blue oysters come since installing the 6-in duct jet exhaust fan. They're still stringy. The exhaust fan is exhausting in the top of the tent and the humidification is coming in from the top. This might matter because when the exhaust fan runs it sucks the sides of the tent in and the fan for the humidification box runs. It spins freely. Really fast. The exhaust fan is drawing odds intake for the air exchange through the humidification duct. I don't think this is a problem since it has to be getting enough air I would think, but is the fresh air just blowing across the top of the tent since they are both at the top of the tent? I had the humidification coming in at the lower front corner and exhaust was going out at the top rear corner, but I don't remember why I changed that about 2 weeks ago. I'm thinking about moving it back and trying that. My two little 4-in circulation pancake fans make pieces of duct tape that I hang all throughout the grow tent flap ever so slightly. They're not flipping and dancing in the wind like it's a hurricane, but they're moving. Without having anything to compare to, I would say there is good circulation. Even the exhaust issue that I am asking about here doesn't seem like it actually could be an issue. The exhaust fan kicks on, the sides of the tent suck in, and after it's good and tight the water tote fan will start spinning. This tells me everything that that exhaust fan could suck out in the tent has been sucked out and it now has to draw intake air from the outside. That's exactly what I want. Yet I'm still seeing stringy oysters. Again, the exhaust fan cycle is 2 minutes on, 5 minutes off. It's a 6-in exhaust fan pulling from the tent with an 8-in duct. The duct is reduced down to the exhaust fans intake of 6 in. Immediately on the exhaust side of the exhaust fan it is reduced down to 4-in duct. This is about a 30-in run to the exhaust outlet of the house.

Do you have any other suggestions? Is there something wrong with my strain or the substrate?

And also, are these chestnuts ready for harvest? http://imgur.com/a/5k1WxZU

I would think you have found the problem. You have your exhaust and intake on the same level. Air and water act the same they take the path of least resistance. So what you are doing is sucking fresh air straight out the exhaust. I would suggest moving your exhaust to the bottom of the room and piping the intake air behind the circulation fan. This way you are sure fresh air is being mixed in by the circulation fan.

I think the fresh air is being sucked straight out of the room and never mixing in the room. This would happen especially if you have a smaller intake air hole and a bigger exhaust air hole. I also think those 4" fans are doing nothing for circulation. I use a 4" inline fan for my circulation fan. You want air being sucked as well as blowing. Those 4-inch fans are not making air move because of a sucking action from the fan. I have mentioned this a few times so I won't mention it again. I wish you luck and hope someone can help you figure out what is going on. But everything I have said I mentioned from the begining.

Thanks a lot for the reply. It is very hard to move my exhaust. Instead of moving it down I'll add 2 smaller 4" intakes near the bottom of the tent. I will also install the 10"Thank fan I bought at the top of the tent in the middle to move the air around. Thank you!

These are a lot better with the new exhaust fan, but do I have a lot of work to do?

Yea those look a lot better!! I wouldn't worried about them anymore. It will be hard to do any better than that. You might harvest a little earlier though.

By moving the exhaust down. I meant putting an elbow on and extending the pipe down to near the floor.

But your fruits look good now.

Are these acceptable to sell? do you think any little Asian grocery stores would buy these? Do I have to work on my quality? I let some get big and some are small to see how they would like them.

This is exactly what im trying to incorporate in my Mylar grow tent. What im having a hard time is finding a way to install this without cutting into the tent floor. How does your bulkhead adapt do your floor? i was going to raise the sides of the grow tent and allow the slope to collect the water to be pumped or drained. At this point pumping it out seems the most reasonable. thoughts?

Are you going to have shelves in the tent? If so how do you plan on the shelves sitting on the floor with the sides raised and the floor sloping?
