You dont need a pc for pf tek. Pf tek uses brown rice flour as the substrate.

Rye requires a pc.

I only do small scale stuff, and use an instant pot for rye jars. Only one jar contaminated so far from about 30, and that was yeast which likely came from me at inoculation.

I use pint jars, and cook on high for 3 hrs.

Might depend a bit on how clean your grain is to begin with.

Dunno how big your pot is, but I def can't fit quarts in mine, hence the pints. Can do four at a time.

I have a large canning pot that I use to steam steralize my WBS. Make sure metal grate is in the bottom of the pot. Fill with 3 inches of water. Place grain jars with foil into the pot. Bring to boil. Turn to simmer. Let it boil for 6 hours. (With my canning pot there is no need to add water while boiling). Then after 6 hours of steaming let it cool over night, then it is ready for inoculation.
