More bad news, the US government bailed out private businesses, one's that aren't accessible to every individual equally like USPS, to the tune of $700B just this year. If you are worried about where your tax money goes, USPS is pretty low on the totem pole. Meanwhile, the USPS has to pay out it's pentions 75 years. That's a good thing but is also impossible. No other pension fund is as funded. The USPS politicized, at least in this case, because the president doesn't like mail in voting. Meanwhile he stands to damage tens of thousands of small businesses in the process. Not cool.
Also, I've looked into FedEx annually. They just don't compare.

The USPS is a shining example of a government agency that actually worked until a bill was passed that it had to fund itself 75 years into the future, including all the pensions for it's future, unborn employees.
ANY business that was required to do this would go insolvent. This is unlike any private or public entity. So WHY are we doing this? Especially for something that is a service that is literally written into the constitution. Don't know how you could support an individuals right to bear arms without supporting an individuals access to a postal office without being completely intellectually dishonest and hypocritical. But whatevs.

There are some very simple solutions here. And either the people in charge of these decisions are totally incompetent - which is a possibility, but more likely, they're doing what they always do, which is starving the beast, and then shrugging their shoulders sitting with their thumbs up their asses yelling about how government doesn't work.
Bullshit.

Thats chapter one in the Republican legislators playbook: Prove government doesn't work by making sure that it doesn't.

Been trying to track a package of meds since yesterday and I keep getting "This service is currently unavailable."
We're in the midst of a pandemic where millions are staying at home, it's the biggest economic downturn in recent history, and we're fucking with a service that brings goods to those who can't leave their homes, employs hundreds of thousands of people, and who hundreds of thousands rely on to run their business?

I made two trades recently.
One took 35 days to reach me and 28 days to reach a bloke in TN.
Another took 20 days to me and 14 days to IL.
I guess USPS in different states differ greatly in service quality.

They've cut the USPS staff and hours drastically. The service has gotten worse for everybody. Now that some of the COVID mail order rush has slowed they are getting caught up, but still, mail order stuff is at pretty much all time highs.

How so very fucking convenient the usps services start to be a mess when they announce a mail in ballot may be in order. It's so FUCKING obvious what the hell is going on!

Especially when you see different states and cities that are refusing to allow people to drop off ballots. When I voted for my state primaries I just requested a ballot in the mail and dropped it off at city hall after I completed it. Didn't even have to go in, they had a mail drop slot into a safe that probably cost them $100 to install. There's no reason it can't be like that everywhere.
They're making it so that if you want to know your vote will be counted, you'll have to take the risk of going to your polling place in person during a viral pandemic. Which party takes the virus less seriously and is more likely to go vote without worry?

People in Canada complain about Canada Post too, but I never had a problem with it personally, I dont get my mail in 2 days like with Amazon, but I never had a huge delay, the only complaint I have is they offer a 2-3 day Canada wide option, but you'll never get your mail in 3 days coming from the other side of the country, so I just use the normal shipping option that cost less
I buy my kratom from B.C. and im in Ontario and it takes about a week to reach me

So you're arguing that USPS is inherently unprofitable even though the data shows 10 years straight of massive surplus right up until a rule mandating that they have to fund pensions 75 years in a future.
IDK. Seems logical and rational to do away with the fucking rule first and foremost if you want to 'cut costs', not throw out mail sorting machines that cost millions of dollars. Seems pretty fucking dumb, if not outright malicious in it's attempt to render usps even more dysfunctional. And in fact, the usps could still feasibly fund it's employees pensions and retirement on it's own, if they allowed them to do it in a way that is outlined in the first link above that I posted.
