It is called a flow meter. I would suggest you get the 3/4" or 1" and make sure you get the solenoid and power pack with it or you will have to buy a solenoid & power pack separately...

zj-lcd-m is the one I have. It makes getting water content right every time easy as pie check this to test your water content and make sure it is right...
Figuring out water content of substrate. TEK

since you are in Europe you shouldn't have a problem finding the adapters needed I believe they are BSP fittings but don't quote me on that.
Anyway, this is how I have mine set up...

It helps to have the flow sensor before the solenoid so the sensor is always in the flow of water. If you have it after the solenoid water will be slamming into the sensor every time you run it.

Yea you will hate it if you got the 3/8. I use a 3/4 which is twice the size of 3/8 and it drives me crazy waiting for water to fill up. It is only a few seconds but it is annoying for me.

Yea, not a big deal if you want to upgrade it will cost a little more. But no need if you are happy with it so just test it out. If you want to upgrade it is only $15-$20. If you do decide to upgrade just check the incoming water line to your house and get the same size flow sensor and solenoid valve because you can not get more flow than the incoming pipe has so it is best just to match it up.
