Would a substrate mix of coir and chicken manure pellets work for Panaeolus Cyanescens or is (collected then pasteurised) manure and coir A better option?

i wouldnt even consider that man. not a good idea if u ask me. completely the wrong texture your looking for. personally i dont even like cow manure. it becomes a mess to work with and the yield are nowhere close to what you will get with horse manure. also i would stay away from coir all together with pans. i have found the best performing substrate for pans since ive been growing them on an exclusive basis to be a chopped wheat straw and horse manure sub. i use a 60% chopped wheat straw and a 40% field aged dried and shredded horse manure.
horse manure is very easy to get for free all you have to do is find a local stabel or someone who has horses and ask them if you can walk the field and collect manure for your garden. ive never had someone say no most of the time they are happy to have you take it. otherwise you can purchase it. as for prep you need to figure out what kjnd of method u will be doing. some ppl will sterilize all in one style bags with limited grain and others like me will spawn colonized grain to a pasteurized sub into bags and break up and lay to trays to recover and then case with a 50/50 peat and verm pasteurized casing also tho you will want to ph balance to 7.5 with calcium carbonate. there is lits of good substrate recipes and prep methods in asuras and jakes write ups. if you click the link in my signature for my write up theirs are also linked in there. take your time and read up on things before just jumping in. but def do urself a favor and dont even think about poultry manure cuz thats not a good choice at all.
good luck to ya and happy reading😃😃
also the official copelandia/panaeolus thread is an exellent source of info too

you really do need manure for pans. without manure its not likely to giv u much of anything. while i have seen a cpl ppl use coir and verm they got nothing but a cpl sad looking fruits compared to what theh could have been with a manure based substrate if u ask me. without manure it simply is pointless and not even worth wasting your time and energy. also dont forget u 100% need a casing to fruit too. pans are a species that are very picky about there growing medium and environmental conditions. so unless your really willing to put in the proper effort and use the proper proven materials they are even more difficult to grow than what they already are/can be to grow. stay away from cow manure tho. its more a mess and dosent give the results you will get with horse manure 👍😃

lol I know jcm isn’t a fan but composted steer manure has worked great for me.
Plus it’s so cheap I’m considering ditching coir once I run out.
 Two bucks for 50 pounds.
