Don't worry, dude. It's all completely justified because "even if a person may be flawed all people are only a product of their own journey," according to sara.

Hmmm, guy shouldn't have knowingly been a part of a caravan that had trump flags waving and put himself in harms way. It's hard to empathize with stupidity. He knew the possible risks after so many months of this shit and did what he did anyway. Yes it's saddening that he or anyone in this debacle dies, but they put themselves in that postilion. Do I still feel some sympathy for the guy? Absolutely. He was a fellow human being. Empathy? Not so much, if any.

Despite the personal beliefs of the victim, the last thing you guys need is more people shooting each other. Someone being murdered at gunpoint is horrible.
Sara your initial comment, not sure if it was a joke or not, either way it was in terrible taste. What if you had a family members that shared similar political views? Would you be so easy to make such comments if he/she was murdered?
Sometimes it's best not to say anything at all ya know?
Not trying to offend you or anybody else but that was pretty low to comment like that.

That sounds an awful lot like victim blaming.
He had family in the town, and he was volunteering cleaning up graffiti. The business owner asked him for help protecting the place.
As far as I can tell, he didn't do a single thing wrong.
They attacked and chased him. They fired at him first, cornered him in a parking lot, and he still didn't defend himself until the guy tried to grab his rifle.
Afterward he immediately tried to call 911, until the mob started chasing him again, at which point he ran towards the police. The mob cut him off again, so he turned and ran the other way, tripping and falling down. Those fucking animals then descended on him, and stomped on his face and tried to bash his brains in with a skateboard. The kid was cool, collected and did the absolute minimum to defend himself. Hell, he even managed to clear a jam after the second shot.
If everyone hadn't lost their collective minds, that kid would and should be a national hero.

I think yall dont really understand what empathy actually means
Quote:
Empathy is the capacity to understand or feel what another person is experiencing from within their frame of reference, that is, the capacity to place oneself in another's position
Quote:
Sympathy is the perception, understanding, and reaction to the distress or need of another life form
Trex gets it though

I didn't read the exact details. Dude WAS CARRYING A RIFLE!!! Yeah, guy is going to help businesses and "clean up graffiti" etc...BUT thinks, "maybe I should carry a FUCKING REALLY OBVIOUS WEAPON while I'm "helping out people who have been trashed so unjustly" etc...hmmm. This makes it harder to feel for the guy, he knowingly did that with a FUCKING FAMILY!!!
I'm of the mind that is "just don't fucking go down there no matter what good or bad you're trying to do, because you could get killed" mindset. I am 55yo and have seen enough to know to steer clear of all that shit.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with carrying a rifle. Particularly when a mob has been burning down cites for the past...what is it, 94, 95 days? Something like that. Steering clear isn't going to put and end to this madness. You know what did? Fighting back. I haven't seen a building burnt since. The fact that every man in that town wasn't on their porch with a firearm that night is damned shameful.
I watched on a livestream as they burned down 2 buildings a block up the street from there the night before, and the tried to burn down the gas station he was defending that night. They started going after him, because he ran out with a fire extinguisher and put the fire out.

Empathy should be shown to all not just those you agree with.
“I will protect those I hate, so long as it is right.”
A person is a refraction of the light of experience with which flows through them, and all crystals at first gleam pure. It is life which dirties them.
