Monotub without polyfill to resemble open air as in nature?

Guys, isn't it better not to have polyfill in the holes on your monotube, for maximum FAE, like open air in nature but in a box - and just mist over the mushrooms and the substrate as if it were raining on them to keep them moist? Isn't that how they grow out in nature? In the open air? With rain making them wet and soaking the ground beneath them?
What do you think?
Everyone seems to say that it is surface RH that matters, and not RH in the air around?
I´m trying to get bigger mushrooms and I read that more FAE and water content makes them bigger? So why not just let them sit with open holes for maximum FAE and mist all over the mushrooms and the substrate like if it was raining as in nature? And then repeat when it is drying up?

To be honest I have just started doing some tubs without poly and it works fine. It is exactly what youd expect, the mycelium wants to fruit and will do so with or without poly however, more FAE is needed without poly. That's a fact. Not much, simply taking the lid off of your tubs for 1-2 mins twice daily (Once in morning once in evening) and listing lightly each time to maintain surface moisture and evaporation... the fruits seem slightly fewer but larger without poly altho weight seems similar. Just requires more FAE daily when fruits show up where as poly would be ok left a day or two without cracking the lid. Also good to have a fan blowing in the room, that's essential. Directly on the tubs is fine as long as you're misting.. I may switch to purely plain tubs without poly from now on. Hope this helps

It all depends on the climate in your house. If your house stays really humid all the time then sure you could get away with it. But it's unlikely you have ideal conditions in your house, that's why we use a box with a controlled environment. Surface RH matters because if that's right then the rest of the air's RH doesn't matter.

Thats kind of what Bod is working from with his unmodified tubs.

The shrooms want as much air as possible, you just have to keep them from drying out.

You'd be able to get away with it but it'd require insane amounts of misting and a very humid room. Might as well build a mini-greenhouse Martha style if maximum FAE is what you're after. Or, try out one of Bod's UnBODified tubs.
Normal monos (with MP tape) have always worked fine for me... I get a little bit of fuzzy feet leading up to harvest but I doubt that it's negatively affecting yields.
