Storing Master Agar Plates vacuum sealed?

So I realize that mycelium requires some air exchange however the only fridge access I have is my food fridge. There for I would need to double vacuum seal the plates loosely before storing in fridge to avoid contam. I find it hard to believe that the mycelium would need more air than what is in the tray to survive. (Once plates are fully colonized I'm speaking about). It seems that to avoid contam with Petri dishes, you need to basically seal off the edges anyway and I've done so with plain duct tape many times with no issues. Leading me to believe I would be ok to vacuum seal the plates for contam protection in the fridge perhaps with a bit of air left in the bag. Any advice is welcome , thank you!

My preferred method is to clean with iso and vac seal in front of the flow hood. The myc isn't really growing when in cold storage and therefore does not breathe much.
Also, duct tape is a horrible way to seal petris. It works but is a pain in the ass to work with. Look into glad cling wrap or parafilm. I use glad but some of the fuckers around here still thing parafilm is better (they're wrong).

I guess I understand it for those who have a few plates that they gingerly wrap and covet like gold in a museum showcase. Im a vendor of plates online and have to wrap hundreds. I can do a couple hundred per hour no problem with cling tight. Also invisible, reliable and very easy to undo for the end user. Not to mention a $4.00 roll will do around 1300 plates. My mind is un-swayable here.
Ill play with some para on my own plates again soon just to see if I can force myself to catch the sickness.

If i got plates from a vendor and they were wrapped in cling wrap... i wouldnt take that vendor seriously.
This is how big a piece i use to wrap a plate...

Thats a fuck ton of plates from a single roll.

I also cut mine on my lathe with a razor attachment into a dozen rolls 3/4" width. Maybe your idea of a cling wrapped dish is when people wrap a 12" square around the plate?

Usually when i get a plate wrapped in cling; the culture needs a good cleaning.
All joking aside. I dont think cling ships as well as para.

Yeah, sitting in the lab, it doesnt matter. You dont even need to wrap plates, period. But the para does ship a lot better.

LDPE #4. . . Breathable. . . This is a funny argument. . . M16 vs AK47? Space pen vs pencil? Glad works real well. . . Easy to cut. . . Easy to dispense. . . No glove contact with the surface touching the petri. . . Why does your plastic have to come with extra plastic?
Labs use polystyrene petri, because they are easy. . . Polystyrene is filth (trust me your great great grandkids will agree). . . Glass petri and glad wrap. . .much less plastic waste. . .
Just because you break the law and grow actives. . . Dosenโt mean you have to be a criminal and suffocate the planet. . .
