Are these lurid boletes? Surrey, England
    #26908386 - 08/30/20 05:04 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Habitat:
Soil. Found in a forest on a hill in Surrey, South-East of England.

Gills:
Yellow/Orange pores with some blue stains (from bruising?)

Stem:
Solid, yellowish, between 5 and 15 cm

Cap:
Between 10 and 20 cm, brownish orange, spherical, convex

Spore print color:
Doing it overnight, will edit tomorrow.

Bruising:
Intense dark blue. Looks grey on the picture but it was really dark blue.

I think they are Lurid bolete which are edible when cooked, but of course I won't try unless I get a confirmation. They are considered a delicacy in France but not so much in the UK apparently!

Lucid boletes?  What exactly do you mean by lucid?  Active? no, not boletes are active

OP here, sorry I meant Lurid Boletes, not lucid! Suillellus Luridus. I'll edit the title

I'm not sure though, I hope someone can identify them!

Thats looks like wolf bolete, Rubroboletus lupinus / Rubroboletus dupainii or similar. I would not recommend eating it.

Either S. luridus or Neoboletus luridiformis. The former is identified by a reddish reticulum on the lower half of the stem, which the latter lacks.

Here is the wolf bolete, here is s. luridus, here is n. luridoformis

Compare the stem of the tree with the pictures here. The first one has smooth color transitions and possible verticle stripes, which I also see on the pictures here. The second one has a distinctive reticulum that goes all the way and the third one has dotted colorings, neither of which I see here.
