That sounds so very bizarre. Read it last night before bed. Read it again this morning. Man you took more than one risk. I'm glad it was benign but so much could've gone wrong. But sounds like you were obvious from the get go because you got made by a stranger.

Completely new to this. Found these in a mulch pile by a creek in north Georgia.  They smell edible, like buttons from the grocery. They are very slow to bruise & bruising seems brown. I tried to do a spore print on paper. It is cinnamon colored.
Not sure is they are culinary, magic or poisonous.
I want to eat them.
Any advice would be great

You need to start by posting in your own ID Request thread in the Mushroom Hunting and Identification forum. This thread is mushrooms already known to be actives. The custom is to confirm your finds in your own ID request thread and then post confirmed actives here.

Yeah, I need to stay the hell out of high traffic residential areas and just go for woodland weilii or go to off-hour business parks.  I've got an eye condition so I have little peripheral vision so it's pretty obvious where I'm looking. I've got to find a spot that's less hot but I can usually get away with a lot since I'm clean cut, look innocent, and play stupid.

Some more backyard buddies!!! Plus some amazing looking mycelium!

Not the best picks of mycelium... didn’t want to disturb it too much since it’s in the 90’s today.

I locked in on another patch today too though, and oddly enough my ol lady spotted the second one too hahah. I honestly think it is more luck still than anything for me tho

I found these guys in that thick, dense, short bermuda? grass. I had searched this type of grass for so many miles I decided to never waste my time again and then POW, stumbled on these bitches today. Its crazy how hidden they actually were...makes me wonder how many I've missed

I am looking for other advice now though. I see people talking about tossing the stem butts around to propagate other areas. What else might I do to increase the possibility that they will take hold in the future??

I've looked into the "slurry" idea but I don't have molasses or a blender and that seems pretty mandatory from all the teks I have personally found.
