Sometimes debri gets into the gauge. Tap it with a spoon a few times and
you may knock whatever it is out of the way of the needle. Happens to me sometimes too

Yeah those were some pretty snarky replies about me throwing away mushrooms.

I won't keep a canopy full of spore coated fruits because It costs me maybe 50 cents in oats and a few bucks in CVG to cultivate them. I run an entire basement full of monotubs. I'm not going to sit around cleaning spores off of caps when I could be doing other fruitful labours.

Spores look, taste and smell like shit. I don't want them on anything I dry if It can be helped because my prerogative is to take pride in my labour. I harvest early for the most part with veils still intact because I enjoy the look, taste and smell of the final product better. I don't worry about weight because I grow in volume and I certainly won't worry about a single monotubs worth of fruits when I'm using a dolly to move around stacks of 86qt monotubs.

I use a fucking cement mixer to mix substrate. No need to jump up my ass because I choose not to keep shitty mushrooms on hand or waste time washing/drying them.

Its just dumb. Why waste them? Because you have enough to waste? Thats just dumb. If you hate spores so much why not just make a tea with the mushrooms that sporukated, or chocolates? The spores don't do anything.

I said if you don't have much, like, a shorbox. Obviously if you're growing 30+ lbs at a time then why bother.

Okay let’s just all smoke a bowl and cool off. No one needs to justify why they do whatever with their fruits. Also if I was growing dump truck loads of fruits I would probably want to develop a thicker skin just in case. Let’s not make me actually pull my hammer out here.

I don't bother with tea or chocolates, that's a waste of my time I prefer eating mushrooms by themselves. It's not wasteful at all and my mind is boggling that you're not comprehending the amount of fresh fruits being dealt with in a day.

If I had a fruit bowl on my counter and a few apples in it went to shit and got funky I wouldn't bother trying to make a pie out of them if I had an apple tree in my backyard. I could spend an hour farting around trying to uncock the apples to make a pie or five minutes picking new apples. Then I could spend that 55 minutes I saved tending to more apple trees. It's inefficient to spend my time baking pies. Put yourself in my shoes is all I'm asking here. I have expectations of my labour and consider a spore explosion a failure on my part. I'll take an L, learn from it and try to improve my processes in an effort to feel good about what I've done, isn't that what a hobby is for?

I didn't think anyone was being too spicy? If all I had on the go was a single monotub then yeah, for sure I'd clean them and I'll look at it from the folks point of view who deal with that and I understand but they've gotta do the same back and look at it from the point of view like mine here when you're growing in large volumes. Time is more precious than fruits when dealing with this. I sure miss being able to do shit like go fishing or leave the house for more than a day, lol.

I dont care what I'm doing. If it's stopping me from going fishing or being away from the house for more than a day, that activity/hobby/job is getting kicked to the curb fast lol.

I also love fishing though... so probably just me

So it’s not concrete yet but I just watched a small fruit fly/gnat whatever the small fucker is . It crawled on top of my filter squatted its ass around the whole filter maybe looking for its hole to get in?
After molesting my filter it went to the jar ring and crawled under the lid, to the screw on part and just fucked around like it knew I was watching it.
It did that about 10 times before I gave up watching ... sadly I have to leave for a while .
I can’t wait to get back and go watch how it gets in the jar.

My money is on the screw on lid part. Sneaks it’s way in

Mind you this is my first time running jars at my new setup . I only used it for fruiting tubs.... Everything’s clean just a fuck ton of bugs

I get fruit flies when my dehydrator can't keep up and I'm queuing fruits to dry in front of a fan. Or if I leave a garbage bag full of trimmings open next to my harvesting table too long.

I put out some tupperware containers with apple cider vinegar and a couple drops of dish soap and they swarm those and die in them instead.
