lol man these are slow.
They look a lot like tamps. Once I started doing different species I realized cubes are sort of weird in that they seem to be the only type that likes drier conditions.

Thanks man! They're definitely slow as helll the box has been fruiting for 3 weeks and still not a mature fruit in sight. But it looks like I'm getting close. I've got maybe .5g of dry aborts so far as well. I'm hoping I can try a test dose of about 20g fresh plus whatever dry aborts i have.

20 grams fresh + aborts sounds like a fucking heavy dose to me but fill your boots. Maybe Iām a lightweight. But the zaps I grew were deadly, a dry gram was lots for most people.

Oh yeah it will definitely be a heavy dose, I want to get the full experience š
My regular dose now is 2-3g dry pans and I've eaten 4g before and had nothing but a wonderful time. I think it should be just right š¤

It took mine a while to produce spores, only got a very faint print from the ones I tried to print.

I've seen most people say the same. If I can't get a decent print or two I'll definitely try swabbing a few.

Interesting looking fruits. The caps look like a peeled orange to me haha.
Always cool to hear about the weird and wonderful, thank you for the effort.

May be similar to what I've heard about semperviva, which don't start dropping until they are really, really mature. And even then it is taking some folks around 48 hours to get a decent print...dropping water on the caps throughout.

Very impressive! Well done
I have been working on these of and on for 3 years and the best I have been able to manage is a 2" underdeveloped fruit.
My main problem(i think) is the fact that the humidity where I live is usually around 30% which basically means that fanning zaps aborts them. I am stuck between not providing enough FAE and providing too much dry FAE. Also, this doesn't take into account that a single ephemeral mote of mist landing on a zap will cause an abort, so all the extra spraying to keep the RH high is weaponized. I've tried most permutations of fruiting chamber/fruiting styles with similar results.
So, I have 2 questions for you:
1: What is the ambient humidity where you live? 2: What is your culture/strategy with fanning and misting?

I live in a coastal Tropical climate so my humidity is always very high outside. Pretty much always 85%+. Its a bit lower in my house though, maybe 50s/60s. The shoebox itself is actually kept in a shitty fruiting chamber I made, I've been meaning to remake it but it seems to work for these š¤·āāļø it's a 105qt sterilite with a 120mm fan on one side and a 4in polyfil hole and fogger input on the other. And 2in of wet perlite at the bottom. It doesn't really hold its humidity so the fogger just soaks everything. When I first noticed it the little shoeboxe had a bunch of standing water in it. I've taken it out and dumped the water buildup several times but it actually seems to love it. The pins literally come straight up through the wettest spots, even straight out of standing water. But there is a big clear rotting spot on the bottom so it most likely won't flush again š
Great news though guys! These fuckers are kicking out a decent spore load! I was running late and didn't snap pics, but lots of the caps are dark and covered in spores now. I took the biggest cluster and put the caps on foil last night and I can already see the prints under them without even taking the dome off! I don't think its gonna be too much of an issue to collect a decent amount of spores. I'll update with pics after work.

Ladies and gentlemen, mission accomplished! We have spore prints! And lots more caps to print.

I'm about to take a dose of 1g dry aborts and 10-15g fresh.

Nice work!! They can be a real nail biter for sure. You always feel like you're on a tightrope waiting for them to mature, and hoping they don't abort just before dropping spores.
