I can't say I didn't anticipate this time would come! Developed laryngitis symptoms on Monday, not from screaming/dancing my ass off over the weekend but more likely from screaming/dancing in a mob of unmasked people.
This is the longest I've gone without getting sick in recent memory, and I'm happy it's just a sore throat absent of cough/nasal/fever/etc. Probably a sign to give my liver a break.
I'm really happy to see things open again and am surprised I didn't get the common cold sooner, given the amount of traveling/partying in the past few weeks.
Needless to say the past few weeks have filled up my spirit, and simultaneously made me realize how feral I'd become in the past year+months of lockdowns

I posted an article about this but now the paper is out and it’s amazing. The ability or lack of ability to taste bitterness is more predictive of covid outcomes than even the traditional comorbidities

When I was like 7 my mom would make extra cash by enrolling me in all these studies and one of them involved me getting supertaster tested. apparently I am.
I still consume fuckloads of bitter veg though

Lol I was in a long term caffeine study when I was a kid. Every Wednesday a cab would pick me up at school and take me to NIH where they would run tests and give my a supplement I had to add to sprite or gingerale. My mom worked at the clinical center so after my tests I’d just hang out with her at work until it was time to go home. It was either caffeine or a plecevo. I couldn’t consume any caffeine products for two years.
I know I got paid at least a thousand bucks for the study, probably more.
The summer I lived in Toronto, my roommate and eventual summer boyfriend got all the roommates and fiends to do a study where we spent an entire weekend in a hotel getting injected with some drug and having blood work taken every few hours. We all got pretty nauseated from whatever it was. Then we had to go to a clinic every morning for a week to get blood work. It paid like $800. Canadian.

I don’t think I’m a supertaster. I’m definitely not a nontaster tho. Coffee and stevia taste mildly bitter.
If you don’t think stevia is bitter you’re probably gonna die of covid

I used to get lost in giant re used bookstores. If anyone remembers them they are mostly a thing of the past. Now a days the closest thing in most towns is the local thrift store.
