Who else disappointed by this pathetic virus? Back at March I thought it's going to kill so many people. In reality it was slighly more severe than flu. Now it has mutated it's even less severe than flu. Why do we still have restrictions? My theory is that the governments cannot just admit that they were wrong.

Disappointed???
I feel a great many emotions over this thing. Disappointment that it is not more severe than initially suspected is definitely not one of them.
Pretty cruel thought, IMO.

Don't jump the gun. I won't be surprised if there's an absolutely massive death toll 1-10 years from now.

The problem is that it is more than 10x less severe than initially suspected. Those people who predicted the death rate should be hanged for creating panic and damaging the economy.

The problem is that it is less deadly?!?!
Case fatality rate as of right now sits at 2.75% (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/). Thank you, but I would rather not roll the dice on that.

I recall the estimates back in early spring being in the neighborhood of 200-300k deaths for this year, or something like a million if we took no action at all. What do you remember?

I have a serious question for the medical professionals here. I asked the same question on Reddit but nobody took me seriously and everyone just laughed at me and downvoted me to hell.
Do the antioxidants and other polyphenols in green, black and oolong teas add any protection in any way to getting covid19?
Every winter since 2014 I have always bought a big bag of good quality matcha to last me through the winter and upped my vitamin c levels and I have never ever gotten sick in the winter since then.
all this year I have been spending quite a bit of money buying really good quality, fresh tea straight from India, Taiwan and Japan. Assam, sencha, gyokuro, matcha, several oolongs mostly medium to dark roasted. This is not junk tea from the grocery stores. I can drink it all day long it has so many flavors and the flavors are so deep and nuanced.
There is a lot of research on tea about how it prevents viruses from doing their thing. I was just wondering if I could get a legit answer on this.

There may be some protective benefit but I wouldnt count on it. East asians drink a lot of tea and that is where this thing started.

It's crazy to think that the US is getting almost double the new cases per day as back in March. It doesn't FEEL like shit is hitting the fan because the media has better things to report on because everyone got tired of hearing about Coronavirus.

COVID is life now. It's the 'new normal'. Seems like we'll be living like this for the next couple of years at least, if not longer.
Anyone have any feelings about how long masks and social distancing are going to be with us for?

I'm guessing it will start to fade in about six months and gradually reduce over the course of a year but there will aspects of society that may never revert

I think masks may become part of the culture to a certain extent sorta the way they are in Asia. It’s such a minor inconvenience and they work, I can see how some people may just choose to wear them on public transportation and such.
Covid really isn’t affecting my psychology in any significant way. I definitely don’t want to catch it. I don’t like getting sick anyways and I’m old enough to worry about the chances of being on the losing end of covid lottery. I’m not paranoid. I just avoid crowds. No indoor restaurants. No bars. Wear mask around strangers. That’s about it. I have one friend who is a covidiot. I do not spend as much time with him as before, but if I choose to hang out with people inside someone’s home I don’t mask or social distance. This past weekend there were four of us sharing a bowl and just not caring. Covid didn’t enter my thoughts. My psychology would probably change a lot if I didn’t live in an area with low level of infection. Living in a visibility conscientious community where people are behaving responsibly is good for everyone’s mental state. I feel bad for people who live in places filled with idiots.

I think a really good motivation is not wanting to be the one that gets everyone you know infected. That is the difference between anti-mask people and good people.
