azurescens HELP PLS
    #26884882 - 08/17/20 01:16 PM (3 years, 5 months ago)

Guys, I messed up and bought two syringes full of azurescens and they were given to me by my partner to inoculate into some rye berries. I and my friend are both working together and have a small operation growing but since we live in Florida there is no way I can grow them outdoors and I figured the only way I would be able to grow them as if I had a refrigerator but I don't think they're even capable of fruiting well like that.

I dont know if this is against the rules but if anyone was interested in trading for them or maybe just giving me some advice cause this is a huge goof and i would hate to see all of that money/mycelium go to waste.

thank you.

I had no luck getting Azurescens to take hold in a rye berry bag. However, I am at about 50% colonization in BRF jars using 25-30% soaked alder sawdust, so that method seems to be working. I plan to try casing then fruiting a couple of the jars and will cut up the rest of the cakes and mix with woodchips in a monotub (eventually to go into an outdoor bed - or fridge). My understanding is that Azurescens are the most difficult to grow (time, temps, need for bulk substrate). If you are only up for dealing with jars then I'd definitely try to trade for any other species. Cyans will be difficult as well, I think.

I may end up trying a fridge instead of an outdoor bed. I see no reason why that wouldn't work as long as you could open the door a few times a day for gas exchange. I'm no pro but think its worth a shot if you have the space and time. I saw a writeup for growing them outdoors in a bed BUT the photo used showed a huge flush in a styrofoam cooler which looked like it may have come from a walk-in fridge. Got my gears turning when I saw it.

Grow them outdoors. They will do fine need to be kept in full shade. Grain to woodchips.
