Can you go without watching television WHATSOEVER for an entire week? Month? 1

So based off of all the reactions I’ve ever gotten when I tell people that I don’t have cable or Internet (WiFi in house) ; it seems that I am in the overwhelming minority on this issue. I figured the Shroomery would level the playing field a bit in regards to the amount of pro television responses. So how about it, can you go an entire week without watching ANYTHING? What about two weeks?
Myself personally I own a TV but only watch things maybe once a week. I will put it on as background very rarely but I need to use a bit of the data from my phone and tether the TV to my phones connection to stream so I try not to waste it as it’s extremely useful depending on the situation, for much more than just entertainment.
When my mom found out I haven’t had cable in years she tried to pay for cable thinking that I didn’t have it because of the expense. It took me almost a week to convince her I genuinely dislike 99 % of all shows on it.

I haven't had any cable TV service for over 15 years and for about 5 of those first years, no internet service. While I do currently stream movies and only a few of my favorite older TV shows, I still prefer popping in DVD movies. I kicks it old school.

hmm, interesting. I do watch a lot of TV and a lot of BS as well, but not talk shows or series. I really only watch the ghost shows (mate loves these), and some of the horror/suspense, sci fi series and stuff like that. Movies are my favorite thing about having cable. Interesting that the younger people do not like TV as much. I'm thinking because they have grown up with comps and have a screen in their faces almost the whole time they're awake, so no need or want for TV in general. If you grew up with a 19 in BW tv and no remote with tinfoil for an antenna, you might think about it a bit differently, lol. I also MUST mute commercials, I absolutely despise commercials!

I love the internet and would get uncomfortable without it unless I had a lot of activity to occupy my attention.
There is zero appeal in cable tv, that shit is ridiculously basic, mindless and disgusting. The idea of needing a laugh track for a tv show, gtfo. I do use Netflix and prime sometimes but there pretty meh
Could one consider YouTube television
That’s my main fix for digital entertainment
It would suck going without YouTube, I love checking out new content and getting new vids from my favorite channels. Most of my time on YouTube is listening to stuff while I am at work though, it kills time and murders boredom. YouTube as a company, they can go fuck themselves but finding quality content to suit any interest is really appealing.
I could go awhile without YT but it would suck

Yeah, i can go long periods of time without TV, mostly because I use the Internet so much and play video games. I definitely think about since I have some favorite shows that I think about like Kindred Spirit, Ghost Adventures, Ancient Aliens, The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch, random movies...
I watch TV probably a few times a month, i do "watch" a lot of Music Choice, which are music channels with random facts thrown on the screen. Not sure that actually counts thou

Easy, books. I prefer reading over watching anyhow. Given enough high quality books in my genres I enjoy TV would be obsolete.

I'm more in to games when I use my tv. I really only watch shows and movies when I'm really bored or if there's something genuinely good to watch with the wife. After a long day of the kids there's not a lot to do together but veg out but I'm not big on rewatching stuff either. I'm always trying to find something new. I've definitely gone weeks maybe a month or so without watching any shows or movies, but YouTube is my main source of entertainment. I've gone just as long without it, I regularly take long breaks from it just because it gets monotonous if you don't know what to look for. If I didn't like video games, the library that is the internet, and occasionally talking to you fags I could live without a tv. You couldn't pay me to install cable/satellite.

It honestly pains me the Casmere universe especially the Stormlight Archive, hasn’t been turned into a show.

I haven't watched any TV for over 10 years now.
I haven't been to the movie theater in 13 years.
I haven't played video games in 15 years.
TV feels like a waste of time to me, nothing interesting at all and I can't stand just sitting around doing nothing & starring into a TV screen. The majority of movies are predictable cookie-cutter crap, there's rarely anything novel or interesting.
There are a few channels on youtube that I watch time to time, I might watch one or two things on youtube around and after dinner and that's about it.
I have no prob going with out.....Though I do prefer having an internet connection just because of all the information at my finger tips, anytime I get a random thought or think about something I'm not sure of or need to learn about something I can learn about it with a quick search, and being able to stream music is nice (I don't listen to the radio).

Book 2 Wise Man's Fear was only so so, and he is taking a GRR martinesque amount of time to write the third book.

They are, though I believe the quality of the material suffered drastically after he got ill and eventually Sanderson stepped in to finish which I haven't read but heard is not bad.

I've paused the series after book 8, still have 7 more to go and the final 3 are by Sanderson, which I've heard are really good ones. So far after book 8, I still really like the series but maybe it diminishes right before Sanderson took over. With it being such a long series, I imagine the TV show could be quite a long run too

I haven't watched broadcast television in more than 30 years, not since I was a child.
I bought a TV and a stand alone media centre about 5 years ago which I play documentaries and films on. I have a PS4 since about a year and a half ago. I occasionally like challenging and engaging games, massive worlds with in depth stories are the go. But mostly it just gathers dust.
I get quickly bored with it all, go and read books or mess with my plants or musical instruments.
