Aerial mycelium and solution

Dear Friends,
After a lot of searching I couldn't find an answer to this specific question. I know aerial mycelium is a sign of lack of FAE, so that is why my "problem" confuses me.
Situation : I have two monotubs, with in total 10 16mm holes each. Two high on each short side, three low on each long side. The bottom holes have two layers, and the top holes one layer of micropore tape.

As you can see they are next to each other in a well lighted and ventilated room. Both are showing healthy growth, but one of the two has a lot of aerial mycelium.

So I would say it is because of a lack of FAE but the tub next to it has almost no aerial mycelium.

The only two differences between the tubs is a slight difference in measurements and different genetics ( the tub without aeril myc is a monoculture, the one with AM is a multispore)
So what do you guys think the reason of difference is?
And second question is, how could I solve it? Bigger holes, less tape, flipping lid, etc.?
I would love to hear your thoughts, again thanks in advance!

I believe it`s up to genetics. With lack of air (you even don`t need that much for colonization) there would be other issues. I noticed it mats down as pins form. Just look for proper surface moisture and you will see pins soon.

Just Genetics dude, it shouldn't matter whether it has aerial mycelium or not. So I'm assuming this, but you're thinking because the mycelium is reaching up it's looking for more FAE?
Like GoatRider said, as long as your surface conditions are good, you'll see pins soon.

Yeah it just grows that way sometimes.
Your monoculture is still probably counted as ms unless it came from a clone. The whole ms/monoculture/isolate terminology is really confusing. I still haven’t found a solid agreed upon definition for monoculture and isolate.
The one agreed upon term seems to be ms meaning anything non clone.

Thanks for the response, I'll keep an eye on the surface moisture.
My bet also would have been genetics because the tubs are the same.

The monoculture tub is indeed from a clone(tissue sample on agar, agar to grain, grain to substrate) . And the ms tub came from spores on agar, agar to grain, grain to substrate.

Tissue clones from a MS grow doesn't make it an isolate, there would still be multiple sets of genetics in the cloned tissue if it came from aMS grow. Maybe we are talking about a difference in definitions here, but an isolated set of genetics would be a monoculture, they're two different terms describing the same thing, a culture with one single set of genetics.

Ah ok, learned something again.. I didn't know, one mushrooms is a collection of different genetics.. So it is possible to keep taking tissue samples from fruits that grow from a clone, without getting in to genetic trouble?

Cloning a clone weakens genetics over time, like grain to grain.

You can do it a few times with no problem though. I was told not to clone clones when I started but I’ve seen it done many times since then.

Yep, could work for a while. I remember a guy here doing 5-6 clone-clones in a row without problems. If we only had a schedule for this

No shit eh, I havent seen anything like that, pretty interesting. Fungi are just the weirdest little creatures lol.

So what would be the safest bet? To take a sporprint after 3 clones from clones, and start from there? Or just keep on going till I see diminishing returns? Or what is your way of working?

I’ve got so many new varieties to do I haven’t done extensive work on clones yet. I would just mess around and see what happens, find a good clone and keep cloning it until you see consistent diminished returns.

lol the plates take up the most space. I ended up with like 30 different cube prints so I’ve kinda been running each one then taking a clone and prints and moving onto the next print.
You can do a ton of shoeboxes with no room if you stack them up. I had like 20 in a corner at one point. Barely taking up any space.

Didn't mean just 5 boxes for 5 grows. If i do 20 at a time, i'd call it 1 grow. Perhaps a bit old fashioned my points of view

Thanks for the info guys.. I am going to read up on making master slants
A question for you A. K. A Are your grows from all these different prints, as consistent as your pictures? I was wondering in which degree such grows are determined by genetics or growing conditions. Sure enough those are some isolates/monocultures right?
