How many have had help from SSRIs for depression/anxiety

Like longterm help. I don't mean a cure.
I am interested for personal and professional reasons.
Also how many have had more or the same help from mushrooms, whatever dosing regimen. Answer only if you have taken SSRIs.

I've taken SSRI's for almost almost 10 years now
I think they've helped. I certainly hope that they have, but it's a bit difficult to tell w/ these kinds of things because feelings of depression/anxiety are perceptual and qualitative. On top of that you don't know what part of feeling better comes from the SSRI's themselves or just a placebo effect
I have gone through long periods (months) without taking them, and I would say that I did notice a considerable increase in feeling depressed and anxious
When I got back on them (after the many-month hiatus) I quickly noticed that a difference in my mood. I no longer had to fake smiles to get through the day. I didn't dread having conversations with other people
I've only recently started taking shrooms, so I can't compare the two. I believe that, like SSRI's, psilocybin also elevates the serotonin levels in the brain? So perhaps there is some overlap in their efficacy. But, unfortunately, w/ shrooms being a Schedule 1 drug we may be a long way off from getting proper large-scale placebo-controlled, double-blind medical studies to really get a full grasp of their medicinal applications
Psychiatry is a big clusterfuck. I go to a private doctor and he does 15 minute consultations. Basically just enough time to make chit chat and write out the refills. It's not the doctor's fault, the system itself is just very broken

Yeah thanks man, I'm not like severely depressed or anything. Just mildly, and just having a hard time changing my life for the better. so I was just thinking about different reasons for this, like if I would actually need meds to change myself more permanently. Now it just feels kind of like wishful thinking and looking for an easy way out. So mostly with this thread I was just curious.

Inflammation is the driving force behind all disease... ALL disease... Genetic expression is dictated by epigenetics... Epigenetics turn genes on and off... That's genes for you... More on this later... I'm friends with a brilliant retired MD... She worked with Carl Pfeiffer and Linus Pauling at The Princeton Brain Bio Research Center in Skillman NJ... They discovered that every single form of mental illness was due to the inflammation of given areas of the brain... If you're depressed, areas of the brain related to mood, including serotonin receptors become inflamed making it difficult if not impossible to function normally or respond to serotonin... Try fasting for a week or two and see if your mood lifts... Fasting dramatically reduces inflammation... Russian and German physicians knew this over a century ago... Yes, they discovered this by accident but it's still a discovery... Same things true with bipolar, schizophrenia or any other mental illness for that matter... The only difference between the illnesses is different areas of the brain are genetically predisposed to poorly respond to inflammation... There is no way in hell that inflammation plays a key role in all other disease but it doesn't when it comes to mental illness... No fucking way!!! I think it's a brilliant theory quite honestly... If you're depressed, fast for one or two weeks... Take supplements that fight inflammation... Due something to get inflammation under control and you will see that what I'm sharing is medically true... I'll end with this... The Princeton Brain Bio Center closed it's doors about six months after Carl Pfeiffer past away but everyone who worked with him carry the torch till today... One more thing... Do you realize that "the brain chemistry imbalance" theory is just that, a theory? There is no physical way to prove it... You provide me with one single study that proves otherwise and I'll send you a $100.00 Amazon card... How's that sound? Here's the catch though, there's always a catch right? You have to fast for two weeks in order to prove me wrong... Up for it?
