Please help me ID this organism taking over my compost
    #26901922 - 08/27/20 09:20 AM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Habitat:
Gulf coast, USA. Taking over my compost pile.
*note: along with fruit/veg scraps, I also discard my contaminated grain jars, cakes, etc.

Stem:
Maybe 1 millimeter

Cap:
White and light brown/tan balls. All balls were white yesterday morning. This morning, the quantity had multiplied but about half are the light brown

Spore print color:
Maybe

Bruising:
Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.

Other information:
They appear to be sprouting from the tremendous amount of mycelium (I think it’s mycelium anyway, I am very new to this and seems like every time I think I know what something is, I am wrong) lol

Thank you so much!!

Maybe a slime mold. Hard to tell.

I did see that on google and at first I thought that it was one of the many variations of slime mold... and then mine started growing light brown ones as well. The pics online for this specific type were white as snow. I guess I can add this to the list of mutant organisms that I seem to have a knack for growing. I wish I could actually succeed at growing what I intend to grow. Lol
