Any updated PE cultivation tips?

Any tips or tricks you guys have for these finicky little suckers?
Some random things i have gathered:
1. they can colonize substrate quickly but they take longer to fruit than most cubes 2. 5-7 days after 100% colonization, case with CVG or Jiffy mix 3. blobs are caused partially by genetics, but high nutrients in substrates seem to also be the culprit - higher spawn ratio? 1:3-1:4? 4. blobs are just as potent as regular fruits 5. some say high FAE and some say lower FAE? not sure on this one yet as i am still experimenting. im betting on high FAE 6. second flush usually turns out better than the first
I am hoping you guys can help curate more tips. Thanks!

PE love lots of FAE. Second flush has larger fruits usually but if you do the first flush right, it’s usually the bigger of the two, weight wise.
Thick casings 1-1.5” work really well... I usually mist every other dayish.. lightly (just enough to keep it moist (hate that word lol)... sometimes every day. Jiffy mix changes color nicely when it dries out so it’s pretty easy to know when it needs a misting. Tedsdead casing strategy works really well. I have pics in that thread buts here’s one

That’s with teds casing strategy and notice all the 1/16” FAE holes I have in the tub. It’s a 16qt with 2 qts rye to 4 qts CV.. lots of 6500 light helps too, along with good genetics.

Genetics defanitly play a huge part , but im startin to think too nuticious doesnt matter, i think it just doesnt like to fruit by its nutrition , a thicker top layer/casing tends to cut the blobs down alot, like 2” thick of jiffy n i barely see any blobs if any. But a thin casing and im guarenteed atleast an oz of blobs.
Im running 9 tubs rite now that are about to get a thick casing on friday, same genetics that blobed like crazy last time , same everything just a thicker casing, 3 even have a quart of pelleted straw mixed in for extra nutrition , so ill know more once these fruit or blob , i wanna figure this shit out, although blobs are my fav to eat so i dont mind a few once in awhile , but when it turns into a thick matt of blobs and takes 2 hours to chop a tub i wanna throw my tub at the fucking wall.

I'll second the lots of FAE. Once my pinset is pretty established, I'll damn near open that thing up. Always end up with much healthier fruits versus when I don't have the time to baby a tub and leave it with the two layers of micropore tape on.
Its been said but thick casing layer!
The only time I've had a bigger second flush was when I forgot to case a tub and it was nothing but blobs. Cleared all the blobs off and second flush came out completely normal. I usually don't wait around for a second flush tho, it just takes too long.

I always make my PE sub a little wetter. And I agree with faht PE has always given me monster first flushes and then a few giants for a second flush.
So far my only clones that burn out the sub with one flush have been PE, super nice.

Thanks everyone and Lotkid for taking the time to put his notes up.
I am having as helluva time with massive blobs and upside down mutants (caps growing first). We are talking 95g+ blobs and mutants! (Maybe there should be a more marketable name for these blobs lol)
I think it started my 12/12 light cycle too early (immediately) and only used CVG for casing. The thicker and wetter casing worked best, but still blobbed out. I used 1:2 spawn/sub and also introduced high FAE almost immediately after spawning to bulk (1 week after).
I would love to get these PEs dialed in better next round.

A jiffy (peat/verm) casing layer is basically a must unless you get lucky and find genetics that don't blob with a standard case-less CVG tub. Follow the tips in the link that faht gave you to maximize.
What I do is prep my tub exactly the same way I would any other mono, except after colonizing for about a week I apply a 3/4" or so casing layer one time and then introduce FAE at the same time. I don't do anything different in terms of spawn ratios/level of FAE than I would any other cube variety, just a regular ass 66 qt mono with 5 myco quarts of spawn to a regular bucket tek batch of CVG.

Sometimes I still get some blobs on the first flush. I could probably maximize by patching the casing layer and being more diligent with misting the casing layer but I'm lazy I guess.
I don't believe in the whole high nutrient subs cause blobs thing, at least with PE. Years ago when I went through some trials growing PE I tried messing around with ratios a bit and always had fucking blobs, sometimes a whole lotta blobs. The only thing that has reduced or eliminated blobs for me is a peat/verm casing layer.

Glad I found this.. about to spawn some APE... first time trying them.. thoughts on just a plain coir casing?.. or is Jiffy the way to go?
Cheers!

Of course they were excited

I know we all have extra coir laying around already, but don't cut corners on this one broskie. IME the proper jiffy casing is the way to go. Follow LotKids tips and you're gucci

Can you pasteurize the Jiffy like coir or can you use it straight out of the bag?

Ape don’t require a casing like regular PE, though it might help in some way idk. I’ve only gotten to my first flush of ape so far.

Oh really? That would be a nice perk! I just ordered some APE spores so I will try my first tubs half with casing half without and see how they go collectively

Interested too about pasteurizing jiffy Mix. Also is there a particular one to use - "Seed Starter" or something like that? I also heard some Jiffy is using perlite vs vermiculite. I dont see ANY ingredients listed on the bags?
