Especially geared at the concerned citizen who never had much to do with firearms but is thinking of stocking up in case the
What handgun do you recommend for Concealed Carry? What gun do you recommend for Car Defense? What gun do you recommend for Home Defense?
This of course provided that it is proper legal firearm ownership.

Ruger 380ACP is a great little pistol and about as cheap as hand guns get. Pretty much covers all the bases your looking at. Ammo is cheap too. If nothing else it's a great 1st gun to get familiar and nail down your marksmanship. From there get a Mosin Nagant. The (un)official rifle of all walks of rebellion.

While I respect the legacy of the Mosin Nagant, nothing says rebellion rifle to me like an AK47.

Touche I suppose. Such an overkill weapon unless your really looking to spill some blood. Shit must really be going downhill in the Netherlands if the Dutch are asking Americans for advice haha. What are your gun laws like over there?

If you can aim, an AK47 means 30 aimed shots of a sufficient caliber to do a lot of damage.
Nooo this is not for Holland, the situation is getting dynamic in the US particularly.
I'm requesting a service BY Americans (with knowhow) FOR Americans (who need a crash course)
Holland has too much peace and quiet, the revolutionary process still is in the stage here.

Concealed carry: S&W EZ shield 2.0 9mm
Car Truck defense: 300 aac blackout 8.5" ar "pistol" suppressed with subsonic rounds Home defense: keltec ksg tactical shotgun or a benelli m1
Or you can go with the McCloskeyTM special and get an A2 and a broken chrome plated 22, but I prefer my wife to have a real working gun to point at the Ne'er-do-wells

My friends here who are gun nutters all seem to be removing exotic/unusual calibers from their collections are stocking up on 9mm & .308 ammo. Apparently it's becoming very hard to find ammo at reasonable prices now. My bestie here is sitting on over 50,000 rounds right now!
He's also busy building short barrel AR's dripping with tactical gubbins and ranting about who he's going to kill first.

I'd get a 40 for cary/car. like maybe a Smith & Wesson SD40VE 10+1.
For home I'd go with 12 gauge shotgun like a mossberg 500 or Maverick 88
I've got 9mm& 7.62X 25 stockpiled for pistol, but those are hard to come by right now. 40 S&W Ammo tends to still be available even after most other ammo has dried up
Also 12 Gauge ammo seems to stick around even through ammo shortages. Get buckshot. #4 is best for human sized targets, but it all works.

Ideally IMO: Personal- Sig p365 Car- Beretta 92 Home- Beretta storm cx4 carbine(uses the 92 mags)
For someone getting into shooting, it would be wise to use the same caliber. Carbines are also underrated for home defense IMO. A friend ov mine, who is a certified trainer and former target rifle designer for Remington, uses a storm in .40 for the potential purpose and highly recommends it.
My personal choices: Carry/car- Ruger lcr in 327 federal mag or a colt mustang in 380 Home- My guns are easily accessible with the optimal HD rifle being a Bulgarian AK in 7.62X39 loaded with 8m3 ammo.
Perhaps i'm not wise as my 5 guns are all different calibers and my carry choices have limited capacity! I used my carry speedloaders for the LCR but after breaking 2 and losing 1 i have'nt bothered for some time. I think that the current situation favors capacity and easily accessible ammo( i love 327 but it's pricey and with limited options and availability). I highly recommend Paul Harrell videos for anyone getting into shooting. He has a rather recent presentation on the subject ov personal carry choices for 2020 that would be a good watch for anyone interested.

The best defense pistol, rifle, and caliber is the one you can most accurately shoot. A shooter that owns a hand cannon chambered in .44 mag but doesn't accurately shoot as well as an attacker armed with a small .22 is at a disadvantage even though a .44 is obviously much more capable than .22
Whatever pistol or rifle is selected, a person needs to practice by getting out there and blowing holes through paper. Muscle memory is really important when shooting in a real world situation under stress. There are plenty of videos online of people under stress missing shots at really close ranges.
When considering a new firearm, you need to be honest with yourself and ask. What is the real purpose? Is this going to be a home defense, personal carry, or just something to have fun with? If you're only buying one and you don't already own a firearm there are tradeoffs to consider when one pistol or rifle has to cover multiple rolls.
Personally, for carrying I go with a revolver chambered in .357mag. With this pistol there are no manual safeties to forget about. No dud cartridges to worry about. No worry about feeding or extracting issues. Just point and shoot. If there's a malfunction, just squeeze the trigger again. If there was some crazy breakdown of society and no law and order. I'd probably carry something with a larger capacity.
For home defense shotgun is the way to go in my opinion. I like the Benelli Nova pump tactical. It's small, light, 12ga, available extend mag, ghost ring rear sight. But also shotguns aren't like movies. You can still miss a target so practice practice practice.

Hopefully I can make it to the uk before shit hits the fan. If not, my ruger ec9s will be my conceal carry, 12 gauge for the house, and a vintage lee Enfield mkIII with armor piercing rounds for when I want to reach out and touch someone

Get an AR with armor piercing rounds and just carry that sucker open carry. That's how you walk around in 'merica.
I want my gun to rip people into shreds even if they try to hide.

At this point, if you aren't already stocked up, you need to consider what's available in ammo. AR ammo is pretty scarce right now. 22-250 isn't too hard to find, and has slightly better ballistics than 223/556, but the guns you'll find for it don't have the capacity an AR does.
I was just at Walmart, and they had a Savage Axis in 6.5 creedmoor for just under $300, no scope. 6.5 creedmoor is still around, and is a fairly powerful round with not too much recoil.

Get one of those m2 brownings with 50 cal rounds. You can pump 1000 rounds into an apartment complex or really anything and just tear that sucker down. You'll literally blow holes in people.

Isn't there a primer shortage, also?
Honestly, if someone isn't already prepared for this shit by now, I'd say just buy a 12 gauge shotgun and keep your head down. Even birdshot will discourage most riff-raff, so unless you somehow got on Seal Team Six's bad side, it'll probably do the job.

Something is better than nothing considering scarcities goin on right now, however not many people are able to run out in the best of times to get all the weapons for your common scenarios as most people build up their arsenals over time. That being said anything that you are comfortable and proficient with to the point that you don't have to think about it.
In general for ammo keep it simple self defense rounds you want rounds that don't over penetrate as you don't to take out the bad guy and a loved one behind them and and use the other rounds for target practice or hunting.
For car and self defense a pistol of some kind and for the home a shot gun and carbine which doubles up for riot control.
I used to go with a G19 for Car/Carry now I go with an XD45 with a grip activated red dot because it's easier to carry and leaves no doubt in my mind what I'm pointing at.
