Using the Bucket Tek for Manure

I was curious if any of you use the bucket tek for Manure? I use an insulated cooler, and I tested the temperature. It can easily stay at 150-160F for 2 Hours. This should be sufficient correct?
I would rather not use the oven or PC if possible as I am doing more than a few tubs and it is not practical.

As long as you can hold a steady temp of 140F-169F, for 60-90min, then you should be fine. I’ve pasteurized like that before, got the water up to temp and poured into an insulated cooler and monitored temps over time. Worked like a charm but it’s a little unforgiving IMO if you get too hot with the water or not hot enough. But I can honestly say it’s worked for me in the past.

It did seem slightly too hot at first when using coir/cooler method, but I just opened the lid to let it cool for a minute.
What mixture did you use with your manure for substrate? I am considering 350 Grams Coir, 350g Manure, 2qt verm. Does that sound good?

Really don't reccomend it. I know it's tempting for speed but with manure I have suffered the wrath of improper pasteurization and it's not a fun end to a big time and resource investment... Sometimes it works (I've tried it), and I've seen people do completely untreated manure. I'd rather take time to fill half gallons to pasteurize in or as (Fatster I believe?) likes to tout- sous vide style in ziploc bags doubled. Hell I'll oven pasteurize before I bucket tek manure.

I can only fit enough for about 4 tubs in the oven. not practical for me. Did you end up with contaminated tubs?
With the insulated cooler I am using staying at 150-160F is not an issue so I should be good.

As long as the core temp is right for the appropriate duration, go for it. Just wouldn't outright reccomend bucket tek for manure. An insulated cooler is definitely better. Manure, if improperly pasteurized, is pretty darn prone to contaminate. (Yes I've certainly lost projects due to just that). I actually like insulated coolers because you can modify the lid with rtv and a candy thermometer and have something worth a fuck. I use a modified version with a spare piece of copper line feeding steam from my pc to pasteurize woodchips when I'm feeling ambitious.

As long as you start with the water at the right temp it should work. Using a 5gal bucket with coir I got a pot boiling and let it sit for like five minutes until it calmed down and poured it in with a thermometer. It was way too hot for like 20mins.
The best method I’ve seen with an actual bucket is to make sure the waters the right temp and dump 3/4 in, then like an hour later heat up the last bit and add it to the mix to bring the temp back up a little longer.
A cooler would prob hold heat long enough to do it all at once though.

I used the digital meat thermometer. It has a metal wire for the probe so just stuck that in the cooler and it worked well. this Cooler is fairly thick, about 3" thick on all sides.
What would the Ideal Temp be for the water going into the cooler? I did it while it was boiling but the temps definitely were more than 160-170 for a couple minutes. I would definitely let it cool slightly next time before dumping to cooler if using manure.
