Liquid Culture and Grain bags.

Using liquid culture how much are you all putting into grain bags? How much LC per 1 quart of grain?

I attempted to use 20ML of LC in 5qt bags, but it was not nearly enough, there is very minimal colonization after 8 days.

Look at your syringe, if you think your spores are evenly distribuited, try to spend a minimum amount on each inoculation point.
You want different points, not 20 ml in one place.
Not that it will stay there, as it trickles down.

edit: if your LC isnt showing growth, maybe it was not a good lc, contamed or otherwise bad

post your lc

a clean lc will have growth after 8 days

I use roughly 5ml LC per quart of grain and then shake the hell out of it.

Even 1ml should show growth in 8 days. If you don't have growth then something is wrong. Was there actually mycelium in the syringes? If there wasn't a lot of culture in the jar its easy to suck up just the solution with no mycelium in it.

Im thinking 2-3 cc per quart should be good. Then shake.

Would you use the same amount of LI as you would LC?

is 1 agar tray enough for 500ml of LI? Should I try using 2 agar trays?

Ok hold up.... I'm lost so you guys are using agar straight to Li? I would be so worryed for that to contam. Iv always used brf to Li to me the bottom of the agar plate can have alot of contam. Maybe I'm wrong/old-school but when I read the tek 5 years ago can't remember who posted it but..... He used brf cakes and a blender i have used the same method for years at this point. Agar to lc. Lc to LI. LI to grain. Makes 100 jars real quick.

agar to LI, place agar in sterilized distilled water in jar with blender lid attached. blend agar in water, then inoculate bags.
