Day three since the first pin, cambo shoebox

Same shoebox, another quick climber

Some cambo pins climbing the walls in another tub

Overhead of that same tub

there is imbalance in humidity/FAE, myc looks super dense on the top.

These are some of my first grain to spawn tubs, so I'm happy to take any input on how to improve conditions. The entire tubs are both solid bricks of myc on the Cambodian var. They also reached 100% within 72 hours of mixing 1:2 popcorn to coir/verm. I've pulled the tops completely from both tubs as of last night but what else needs to change? Is this the reason for the lackluster pinset?

The pinset problem is mostly the surface conditions, once you get an eye for it and get everything dialed in you’ll get much better coverage.

It looks like they were misted a lot and the myc got thick and matted. It’s a little tricky learning to balance moisture and airflow but you just want it to maintain little beads of water on the surface.

Damn. I am absolutely guilty of misting a lot. I live in central calif. Where we've been dealing with an intense heatwave and I live close enough to the ocean that nobody ever thought to install air conditioning in our home. Conditions have been north of 90 the better part of every day since these were jars. :frown: Thanks for the tip, I just started a thread as to not hijack this wonderful escape from my own grow.

Gaining more flesh

do lower growing temps contribute to the size of the mushrooms?
during colder days my crop consisted of smaller but much denser fruit.
what are the main factors?

I keep my trays open when I am around and there is a nice draft through the whole flat with doors/windows open in joining rooms, I have to mist every 3-4hours.
do mush bodies suffer if their surface dries out faster than the substrates surface?

repeatedly letting the surface dry out will cause matting, which inhibits pinning.

Could anyone tell me if these look good so far, they are growing fat and short, it looks like the veil "might" break on some that are 4 inches (not in the pic).

I just wish they would be longer lol 🤷🏻‍♂️

They are Equadorian and growing in 68-70°f. Plenty of misting and reservoir watering when necessary.

Thank you for your input, this will "hopefully" be my first good grow after my last pitiful attempt. Much luv 😁🍄🌠

Those need a few more days. The cap opened early on that one because of too much moisture

Oh ok, thanks for the input.

I will cut down on misting and no more bottom watering.

Thank you ✌🏼😁

They’re bruising too which means somethings off with conditions.

I found cakes to be much more difficult than bulk. I’ve been pushing shoeboxes as a better first grow for a while but cakes are just so well known.

This natalensis has been giving me so much trouble that for the first time ever I’m super happy about having a shitload of sidepins :dancer:
