Tips for reducing heat in room
    #26897676 - 08/24/20 06:53 PM (3 years, 5 months ago)

So my process has been going well so far but one thing I think would vastly improve my results is lowering the heat in the room I use for mushies.

It's a small room with no AC leading to the room and has a ceiling fan. I keep the door closed at all times to reduce the amount of dust/contams getting in (I use the same room for my SAB, would rather keep it clean).

The room stays a constant 79F at morning and night and during the day it's about 81-82F. Haven't seen much fluctuation outside of that.

So my ideas so far is that sure I could keep the fan on but that will dry out subs to much I feel like. And more or less just blow stale air around.

I thought about using a humidifier with ice in it but that could mess up the RH in my room (around 45-55% usually)

And lastly, just keeping the door open. But once again, would prefer not to do that.

Any suggestions for this would be great!

Those ambient temperatures are far too high based on my personal experience so you're right to want to drop them.

You COULD build a swamp cooler which would serve to raise the RH as well if such is your wish. A DIY swamp cooler is just as simple as you need it to be. A bucket full of water with a fan blowing into it and some outlets. Google it up.

Based on my personal experience in home ownership AC should be a last option as it dramatically lowers RH which still matters even when using monotubs in my experience.

I would suggest an a/c unit. I have central ac run and I still supplement with a stand up ac.

Just keep the tubs as far from it as possible. Worst case sinario a few more mistings will be far better than those temp conditions imo.

Yeah as soon as I started my projects I realized the heat was way to much. I just did transfers in there and i'm sweating lol.

I'll look into the swamp cooler, I assume you put ice in there as well to lower the temp? The humidity is pretty high as is, hot and humid. Southern shit. Yeah i'm trying to avoid AC as the room is small and that amount of air would deff effect all of the tubs.

But I guess you're right, i'd rather it be cooler and mist more than keep dealing with that.

I have a room humidifier, would that in combination with an AC work well? Sounds a little overkill though.

What does the temp do when you leave the door open?

"I thought to myself 'Boy, I'm sure glad there's nobody here to see this because this is exactly the sort of thing that gets people riled-up and they assume you're dying and that something has to be done. Where if you're alone, you know, you either come through it or you die, but in any case you avoid the fuss.'"

I haven't tried leaving the door open as I have animals that could get in the room as well as it's right next to the garage which inherently is pretty gross and would rather not expose it to all of that. I tried turning on the ceiling fan but flipping the switch that pulls air up and disperses it instead of blowing directly down and it seems to have made it slightly cooler but a little more dry. Although I have a hygrometer in the room and it says that the temp hasn't changed
