Back when I did Atkins, a Ketosis diet, in the first 5 days I lost 5 kilos (11 lbs) of water weight which was exhilarating.
In 3 months of Atkins I lost 15 kg (33lbs)
A licenced dietician had be do high starch 6 meals 10 slices of bread a day (super high salt, that!). With that diet too, I lost 15 kg in 3 months.
I felt a LOT better on the starchy diet than on the keto diet. I quit the starchy diet because of boredom, I quit the keto diet because my fat was literally hardening and I felt unwell.
Why torture myself with a keto diet if I can eat starchy 6 times a day and have the same results over the same time frame?

bread with butter is literally what caused me to gain weight, though I probably ate more then 10 slices and that was on top of my normal eating for the day
what happened was a dumb doctor prescribed me seroquel at night and it gave me the munchies worse then weed, and I craved pure bad type of carbs, unlike weed where even something like carrot and celery sticks can be satisfying
the hospital left bread and a toaster out for snacking on before bed, so I got in the habit of taking the seroquel and then when it kicked in munching the hell outta some bread
and I continued to do that when I was out of the hospital for about the year I continued to take seroquel
I went from something like 130 or 140, to like 230 in a year
seroquel is the worst too, they told me it would make me sleepy, but it didnt, it just made me light headed so I couldnt stand and had to lay down, but the urge to eat would over ride my urge to not stand up, so I would be trying to walk down the stairs to get to the kitchen well feeling like I could easily tumble or collapse
I dont know what possessed me to take that drug for so long, when ever they put me on ssri's I drop them within months but I just kept taking the stupid seroquel

I was prescribed seroquel once and flat out refused it. I said they could up my haldol till I trembled but I wanted nothing of Seroquel.
Seroquel is renowned for making people gain 50 lbs in months and giving them diabetes.
I prefer HELLdol over Seroquel.
"What does haldol do in the brain?"
"Two things, and one not as much."
"What does Seroquel do in the brain?"
"Everything."
Nooo thanks. No drug who slams 20 or 30 receptors for me.

Losing the same weight doesn't mean you're getting the same results. You probably lost more LBM on that starchy diet than on keto. I'd rather lose 10 pounds of fat than lose 15 pounds of fat and muscle.

That's a better reason. Weird though, how some can feel sick on it but people like me thrive on it. I eat too much starch (as in like 3 pieces of bread in a day) and I get those weird constipation/diarrhea hybrid poops. Potatoes and yuca and stuff like that don't bother me though. But bread and sugar, I feel like shit the next day.

im usually cooking eggs by this time, but I dont even feel hungry, maybe my appetite will pick up in a few hours and I can poach some eggs, but at this point I feel like I could fast through till wednesday when I pick up my keto crust pizza
btw I read its made with coconut flour, I never had anything made with coconut flour before, and its expensive the 3 topping (bacon, sausage, peperoni) small 6 slice keto crust pizza is $15.99 plus tax, $18.07 total
they have normal medium 8 slice 2 topping pizza's for $7.99 plus tax if you buy 2 or more, so its quite the price difference
I usually get their deal called the score saving combo, 2 medium 2 topping pizza, 2 dipping sauces and 6 pop for $19.99 plus tax
oh yeah dipping sauces, I looked through them and I can get either their franks red hot sauce for 2g carbs (1g fibre, 1g sugar so 1 net carb, but where the fuck is fibre coming from in a hot sauce lol) or their buffalo blue cheese for 1g carbs (1g from sugar)
im going to probably get the buffalo blue cheese dipping sauce

Not necessarily. If you dont eat glucose your body will break down your own lbm to synth it for your brain to use. If you do resistance training insulin will take the glucose you eat into your muscles along with amino acids and increase lbm. I got pretty shredded on a high carb diet while lifting. Very few weight trainers eschew carbs because the insulin response to carb consumption is an integral part of hypertrophy

does gluconeogenesis actually attack your muscles, I thought it gets the proteins from fuck knows where
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gluconeogenesis
Quote:
Gluconeogenesis (GNG) is a metabolic pathway that results in the generation of glucose from certain non-carbohydrate carbon substrates. From breakdown of proteins, these substrates include glucogenic amino acids (although not ketogenic amino acids); from breakdown of lipids (such as triglycerides), they include glycerol, odd-chain fatty acids (although not even-chain fatty acids, see below); and from other steps in metabolism they include pyruvate and lactate. Under conditions of prolonged fasting, acetone derived from ketone bodies can also serve as a substrate, providing a pathway from fatty acids to glucose. Although most gluconeogenesis occurs in the liver, the relative contribution of gluconeogenesis by the kidney is increased in diabetes and prolonged fasting.[1]
wikipedia says it can get them from lipids as well if I understood that correctly

He's talking about just fat loss, if you have fat to lose, your fat is going to be the fuel. That's what it's there for. Then ketones are made for the brain to use in the absence of carbs. There is a short transition phase where the glucose in your muscle is used first, that's why keto makes people flatter than when they're eating carbs. I kept 95% of my lbm just eating a strict protein only diet of around 1,000 calories for a month straight. A bit of that probably went through gluceoneogenisis but obviously not much because I did stay in ketosis, and I was eating mostly chicken and tuna and casein shakes. Less than 20 grams of fat and carbs, while doing low volume and heavy weights just to maintain strength on such a deficit. I was losing on average around 3 pounds of fat a week, after the initial 10 pound or so loss of water in the first week, while maintaining strength. There is no way that would have happened if I ate mostly carbs with that amount of calories. Building muscle? That's different, yeah you will definitely build more muscle if you're eating carbs. That's why even keto people will sometimes add an amount that would normally break their ketosis, just before they workout because it just gets prioritized for that goal. And I mean no offense, but at the peak of my physique, I probably had a good 30 pounds of muscle on you. I'm working back up to it now so maybe I'll post some pics sometime in the near future.

15 poached eggs, but I swear my camera is getting shittier with every picture taken
I cooked them 3 at a time for 4 minutes, most of them were pretty set, I might do 3 minutes 30 seconds next time to get runnier yolks
they were less satiating than the hardboiled eggs, but more so then scrambled, with the hardboiled I could only eat 16, with the poached I think I could have ate 20+, but the scrambled eggs had a delayed fullness factor, I felt full about an hour later with them, I hope that happens with the poached, or I will fry up a few pieces of cod later

Why exactly are you focused on eggs specifically, and not just the macros that eggs give? You can get the same amount of calories and macros with other foods as you would with all eggs, but it'd be less boring which makes it much easier to sustain. If you give me your macros and caloric goals I could give ya some recipes to fit them if you wanted.

Yeah farmers markets probably aren't doing too well right now either. I still say you should pickle a bunch of them. There's some great recipes for that. I like mine with red wine vinegar, red pepper flakes, minced garlic, mince onion, light brown sugar and salt. And no, in case you did want to make some, a little sugar in pickled eggs is not going to mess you up.
