Ontario, maybe Psilocybe semilanceata?

Pretty loomy cedar dense forest. A little oak and hickory too. South eastern Ontario.
Just popping out of the soil, alone, beside a pretty rotted tree. Lots of chanterelles and some other mushroom.
Didn't want to bother axing the guy since it was the only one I saw. Bout 3" tall.

Looks like Mycena or something close. Was it sticky or slimy?

Psychoactive Mycena. You can clearly see the deep, radiant blue bruising at the bottom of the stem.

Sorry to be that guy but since when wikipedia has been a trustworthy website, especially when it's about mushrooms?

Here is a trip report regarding mycena cyanorrhiza "The trip was frightening. For several hours I had the feeling of flying, floating or standing beside my body. It was like when a strong wind tries to blow my consciousness away from my brain. Hard to describe. I have never had that before in my life. It wasn't funny at all. Possible that there are still other substances in the shrooms than Psilocybin/Psilocin that remain to be discovered. The chemistry of the Mycenas is not well known."

Well I haven't personally seen a paper about chemical analysis of Mycena cyanorrhiza. With some other blueing Mycena species like Mycena amicta for example, you can scratch the blue color on the stipe away with your finger or if you remove the gelatinous pellicle of M. amicta, no more blue cap. My point was that wikipedia is a bad website for confirming the facts.

I think there needs to be some tests regarding whether or not this species blues due to psilocin oxidation or due to other chemicals. Would be interesting to know for sure. There doesn't seem to be much information about this species.

Unfortunately that wikipedia entry doesn’t have a single site reference. I’d personally consider it unverifiable.

Lots more info than I expected. Thank you all. I will try to find it today or tomorrow, if it's still there give it a touch. It definitely looked moist. Mycena looks possible.
