I walked out of every addiction I had; now I'm going to walk out of crappy foods addiction and walk out of a passive lifestyle. 9

I walked out of every addiction I had; now I'm going to walk out of crappy foods addiction and walk out of a passive lifestyle.
That's the plan, man.
I've been addicted to tobacco, weed, MDMA, Stimulants and Methoxetamine.
With each of these addictions it was impossible for me to quit, except when my Spirit Guide and I aligned on the quitting. At such moments, when both aligned, I walked out of those addictions as if they had not existed. I just did a 180' turn and went the other way, withouit looking back, craving and remorse.
Its something absolutely fantastic.
A triumph of the spirit over the body.
Today my Spirit Guide and I align on walking out of eating foods and portion sizes that do not serve the nourishing of my body, but instead serve emotional eating - and to walk out of my chair to get shit done in the world more for the purpose of building a level of fitness.
Lets hope it meets with similar success as my quitting of substances abuse.
Today is a day to prepare orders to restock my freezer and pantry and I'm restocking with $150 worth of wholesome, whole, unprocessed foods, fortifying my decision to eat right.
Enough is enough. Eating the wrong things and leading a physically passive lifestyle has morphed my body into one of limited practical utility. Something's got to give.
Altering course in 3.. 2.. 1..
The Time of Change is Now

Right on man, good luck to you. I am on a similar path, having kicked everything but the food one, so I'll be working with ya
Tobacco, weed, meth, oxycontin, kratom, caffeine, alcohol, all severely addicted at one time or another. Yet food is the most difficult I think, especially if you're style is like mine - cold turkey and don't look back.
Can't exactly do that with food so we must master balance & moderation.
It's alright, decide to do it and it's already done, everything else is just going through the motions, right?

Theres rational eating and irrational eating though.
Eating foods that fail to nourish while adding to a sizable obesity problem is not rational.
I'm not a Ninja Turtle. I can't stay ripped on a diet of pizza.
I'm basically mistreating my body while I depend on it to live this life. Not intelligent.

For myself I eat emotionally, in response to being j happy and wanting something that feels good. It is irrational in a way but I needed a different approach to solve the problem, as rational thinking alone was not enough.
I wasn't technically overweight I don't think, but had slowly crept up to the point where I didn't like where I was compared to how I used to be. I've lost 10 lbs in the past 2 months eating healthily and the positive impact is enough to keep me going on the same path forward.
Just keep your goal in mind if you feel tempted. And leave yourself room to have the foods you enjoy most once in a while to celebrate how good you've been the rest of the time.

You can always post what you eat each day line by line in a thread to keep accountable. Likewise, you could probably do a mono-diet for a few weeks to get re-negotiate food habits with your body.

One thing about fresh foods is, frequent trips to grocery store. Unless you have got a garden with some livestock to harvest meat/egg.
Produce rots. Meat goes bad. Cheese molds.

Its terrible.

Congratulations on that!
That basically is the plan: eating sensible foods and tailoring my portions down to what I need for the next few hours.
Once a dietician made a 2500 kcal diet for me that involved 10 slices of bread and dinner with some fruit in it.
In the 3 months I was on it I lost 33lbs of weight on it. I need about 3500 kcal/day because of my enormous body.
Of course 10 slices of bread is completely shit advice. Thats 10 grams of salt right there, not touching the other food, just the slices.
I'm going to mimick that diet because it worked for me, but instead of bread I'm using whole grains with veggies and all that, which is a lot more wholesome, waaaay easier on the salt, better nutritious content etc.
If I can use 11 lbs a month on 2500 kcal comfortably, why go on a more severe diet? Its the max you should lose anyway.
Big difference with last time is I'll be making good use of herbs, spices and sriracha
Its a cow pasture diet, 6 small meals throughout the day, graze a lil when hungry.

Glad you're feeling motivated buddy there's nothing quite like feeling healthy. Food can be a real bitch. I have to actively not have things around because I'll eat for something to do it's that sensory experience. It's like doing drugs honestly. It just seems like harmless hedonism until you start feeling like you're wearing a fat suit. I almost never buy ice cream, chips, pop, candy/chocolate ect. Chocolate milk just got added to the list none of this fares well I can't exactly exercise like a normal person I've broken too much shit. I have to really watch what I eat, I put on weight way too easily.
You gotta get on that hummus n naan boat friend, very filling and low calorie.
I had this thought about my relationship with food the other day I thought was kind of interesting. Food, being fat. It's undeniably gluttonous. It's kind of my sin if you know what I mean. My burden. But the act of being gluttonous, you're kind of consuming life. Consuming time, you know? Psychologically, does that speak of my inner desires? My spiritual ones? Is that confusion or is the love in the penanace? Maybe it's just me but those are the things that make me think

I'm heavier than the AVERAGE sumo wrestler and nowhere near as fit.
Sriracha, kikkoman and restaurant grade spices and spice mixes should enable me to impart variety of spice to a basic food thats OK for my body so I keep eating it.
I've near completely done away with red meat and fowl, replacing it with low mercury wild fish and eggs.
My starches are oatmeal, rice, lentils and quinoa.
Many people will screech at not using ketosis or periodic fasting, but those two didnt work for me and the dietician diet of 6 starchy meals throughout the day, did.
Add healthy fats, healthy proteins, a fuck of a lot better than bread with peanut butter and cheese, and dinner as usual.
My obesity is mosty due to irrational foods and portion sizes.
If you eat like a teenager but do not grow in length you will grow in circumference.
When I have a weight in which this safely can be done and this DAMN COVID is over, I will add martial arts to my swimming activities. Already picked my dojo.

My childhood was hell and one of the few reliefs there were were pigging out on sugary food, which is what was made available, and no one told me no or sat me down and taught me proper nutrition and that I mattered.
Then came the fattening medications.
I don't really consider my obesity gluttinous as a conditioned response to stress that must be unlearned.
If I had been happy and raised well (sorry parents!) I wouldnt have been fat or made fat people choices in the grocery store.
Many fat people are conditioned to make the wrong choices by their past.
I don't really consider that gluttinous, its irrational feeding habits despite the troubles they cause.

keep in mind even though sweeteners dont raise blood sugar and dont have calories they (at least some of them) can still raise insulin
sucralose taken before a oral glucose load increased insulin by 20%
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23633524/
stevia, aspartame and sucrose have comparable insulin response after a meal
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0195666310000826?via%3Dihub
I dont know why all the studies are done inconjuction with something that already raises glucose, I would like to see a study done on sweeteners on their own
I just pulled these studies from a book I have that has a chapter that says to avoid sweeteners as well as sugar, I know these are not the sweeteners you use, but yours are kinda obscure, and this book is aimed at the average reader
theres about 20 citations on the sweeteners chapter, again not the sweeteners you use but theres a study linking diet pop to vascular events and one linking diet beverages to a 47% increase in obesity
I just think that sweeteners should be used in moderation and not over consumed
personally my sugar problem is eating processed foods bought that contain sugar, I dont really sweeten anything myself except tea, which I drink less then once a month, so im not really worried about the two teaspoons of sugar I add myself every couple months, and for what its worth I switched to dextrose that has a higher glycemic index, but a lower insulin index
I just gotta stop buying junk food so often that contains sugar, one solution I can think of is buying 90% dark chocolate that I sweeten with a little bit of just peanuts peanut butter, 2g sugar for the peanuts and 1g sugar for the cocoa, its still 3g sugar but it seems kinda like a treat when you eat it, maybe eating that 2-4 times a month will be enough to satisfy my sweet tooth
EDIT:
im looking at the full study and insulin is actually lower in the sweeteners compared to sucrose, I dont know why he says they are higher in the book, only the aspartame spikes higher and only for a short period before it levels off

Thats the tricky part: I can't. Ultimately he decides over reality and I align with him.
He's the locomotive, I'm the cart.
Sometimes Fate aligns with us, sometimes we align with it, but if that was up to us we'd all be trillionaires.
My Spirit Guide made me a deal: "align with me now and I will get you out of this situation with little trouble." Thats how we used to quit drugs successfully so I bit down on that opportunity like Jaws at Cable Junction.
Its over. The scales will descend from here, I will eat responsibly and exercise with care, even if we go in full lockdown in the cold season.

Good luck Asante, eating well now will save a lot of pain and sickness later on.
The most important thing with dieting IMO is to make it sustainable, if you don't make it a routine you'll keep up for life, you won't keep it up for life (or very long, likely). I couldn't live without an occasional donut, takeout Chinese, ice cream, etc so I try to factor that in to my week. Instead of having cheat days or anything, I just set a particular ballpark calorie wise that I want to hit every day, and allow for junk meals or snacks at least a couple times a week, so long as it fits into my calories and isn't a frequent thing.
Sugar wreaks havoc on my cravings though. One slice of cake will have me craving more garbage for the next day or two. Supposedly it has something to do with feeding the gut bacteria that thrive on sugar, which gives them energy to reproduce, and then you're left with a whole bunch of sugar craving bacteria sending "feed me" signals to your brain.

Spicemaster said: You can do it Asante I lost a lot of weight in the last 6-8 months by eating smaller portions Plus i never eat processed any more I can easily bend down and tie my shoes now
That was not a easy thing to do after having both hips replaced
If your going to go the high carbohydrate route, which I wouldnt go, I would limit fat lower than normal
Ive seen evidence for low fat high carb diets reducing diabetes and evidence for low carb high fat diets reducing diabetes, if it works for diabetes I assume its the same for weight loss
so I think the biggest danger is mixing carbs and fats in your diet, like the standard american diet

personally I think processed carbs are bad, mainly sugar and modern milled flour, I wouldnt think twice about eating a sweet potato or a apple, but a piece of bread or a oreo I feel kinda guilty

right now mine says 23.9 but I think theres a little water weight trickery going on, cause 2 days ago it was at 24.9, so I think in reality it might be a tad higher then 23.9
my TDEE is also down to 1970, I can no longer eat 2000 calories a day
if you have any muscle at all your BMI is less accurate it will say you should weigh less when really maybe you shouldnt and you're all good

Okay, but you can buy flour based on it's particle size. In fact, that has been the case for a very long time as it is important to know that to achieve proper hydration for whatever bread you are making as well as most baking processes. Look up the Particle Size Index if you want to know more. Also, I see zero evidence that flour particle size once it's bound by gluten or other binders has any bearing on absorption in your gut, though it might if you were eating straight flour.

Guys I'm going developing nations mode.
My staple foods are going to be Rice, Lentils, Alaska Pollock, Vegetables and Oatmeal.
Thats the foundation.
Quote:
Renowned British track and field coach Brian Mackenzie believes that the ideal blend for athletes is to consume 57 percent of your total calories from carbohydrates, 30 percent from fat and 13 percent from protein. Other fitness professionals commonly recommend a simple 50/30/20 blend (i.e., 50 percent carbohydrates, 30 percent fat and 20 percent protein)
My main staple balances out as 56% carb (all starch) 24% protein and 20% fat.
I start the day with a hefty serving of oatmeal to power up my glycogen.
I'll be eating a 500kcal breakfast, 3x 270kcal minor meals and a 700kcal dinner
This is approximately 2000 kcal which means I have 500 kcal left to play with.
Its been proven that if I eat 2500kcal a day I lose a kilo per week.
Main foods:
Rice Lentils Alaskapollock var, Vegetables Oatmeal Eggs Fruit Butter/Olive Oil/Coconut Oil/Flaxseed Oil
The naming of this list will inevitably have the effect on adherents of various diets like a tub of cucumbers poured into a dumpster full of cats, but its how I'm gonna do it.
100% unprocessed Cooked from scratch No Red Meat No Fowl No Sugar No Alcohol Salt-conscious Lots of water
I'm going to eat in 5 meals to stimulate metabolism and keep hunger and hunger related binging away, I'm going to use the mechanism of portion control (not too severe caloric reduction) to induce a caloric deficit. I'm going to be physically exercising daily to keep it all going.
Thats the plan, man.

Back when I did Atkins, a Ketosis diet, in the first 5 days I lost 5 kilos (11 lbs) of water weight which was exhilarating.
In 3 months of Atkins I lost 15 kg (33lbs)
A licenced dietician had be do high starch 6 meals 10 slices of bread a day (super high salt, that!). With that diet too, I lost 15 kg in 3 months.
I felt a LOT better on the starchy diet than on the keto diet. I quit the starchy diet because of boredom, I quit the keto diet because my fat was literally hardening and I felt unwell.
Why torture myself with a keto diet if I can eat starchy 6 times a day and have the same results over the same time frame?

Theres research for everything but people used to eat butter, lard, tallow and the like, then there was a publicatuion that this caused heart disease, people switched to polyunsaturated oils and margarines and the cardiovascular death rate WENT THROUGH THE ROOF. And now, recent studies suggest that things like butter and the animal fats you suggest really arent so bad because *drumroll* what we are lined with of course ALSO is animal fat.
Did you know that the fatty acids of human breast milk contains 20% of Lauric acid, which is about 50% of coconut oil? That super maligned lauric acid that people insist is so bad is in fact produced in great quantity by female breasts to give it to their babies. It is a main difference with using milk bottles with cow milk.
For everything there are studies and studies so research with care.
I'd be totally open to trying duck fat.

I heard movie theatres used to make their popcorn with coconut oil, then some health group, I forget which one, pressured them to switch to some vegteable oil, I forget which one, that happened to be high in trans fat, in the name of health
its a little story in the documentary fathead, where he eats mcdonalds every day for 30 days, but he watches his calories and limits carbs, not eating much fries and drinking the diet pop and he loses weight, he just really hated the documentary supersize me
but I seen it years ago so thats why im a little fuzzy on the details

I read an article about the situation in Holland decades back.
Real cow butter was getting too expensive.
So, they pushed margarine, "because it was healtier"
Main brands of that oldtime margarine contained 25% trans fat, they were literally poison.
When I was a teen I went to a dietician. She asked whether I put butter on my bread or margarine. I said "Neither ma'am, I just put the cheese etc on the plain bread." She then told me, an obese kid, to start using margarine, to introduce fat between my bread and what I put on it "because it contains vitamin D"
At this point I knew as a kid that I was fucked because my dietician was full of shit.

I remember listening to a joe rogan podcast and the guest talking about this compound called sulforaphane which is found in certain cruciferous vegetables. Something was said about how it clears out damaged cells or something but at the same time it gets rid of healthy cells I think? Anyway that’s how I discovered seasonal eating.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk
