Pereskiopsis stalling and turning yellow
    #26895239 - 08/23/20 11:29 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

Hey everyone! My peres are stalling and sometimes turning yellow. I'm sure that part of it is them being in solo cups, but it's also happened to peres in larger pots while others in smaller cups seem to do pretty OK.

Here are a couple that are yellowish, the small one has stalled:

Here's one in a solo cup that seems to be doing pretty well: perky, green and leafy while another one in a bitter pot is stalled and starting to yellow (you can't tell by the angle, but the one in the solo cup is almost as tall as the plant pot one but has been there less time):

What could be the cause? I suspect lack of nutrients, soil quality or maybe too much sun. If possible I'd like to solve it without getting bigger pots as I don't have a lot of space.

The only time I have Peres turn yellow or white is when they are either dry for extended periods of time, or suffocating in mud. Could be deficiency.

I doubt it's too much sunlight. Pereskiopsis isn't going to burn from intense sunlight unless it's inside a greenhouse that is 120F+.

Thanks a bunch guys! I don't think it's the dryness since I've been watering and it's been raining a lot these days, but I'll keep an eye on it. I have noticed that the cups drain unusually fast, so maybe the water isn't properly being absorbed by the dirt. I'll prepare some dirt differently for some, fert others and see how it does.
