Unidentified Fruiting Object (Monotub)
    #26894727 - 08/23/20 03:17 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

I'm on the fruiting/pinning stage of my first monotub (is far from perfect!) but lots learnt! It's got the attached white spot on it after checking it after a few days though i can't for the life of me identify it. It may be something totally legitimate/normal but it's best to ask. Might be able to nip it in the bud, sort it early on (if it's contam)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Just looks like a bundle of knots about to form.. is the tub from multi-spore?  Trich can have a bumpy form to it like that, but ime, it’s much more compact than that appears and it spreads and sporelates very quickly.. how long has it been since you noticed it?

Hi Faht

Thanks for having a look do appreciate it, it's not a multi spore monotub no, only Golden Teacher, and only this morning it must have appeared in the past 3 or 4 days i'd imagine.

Gotcha.. by multi spore, I mean the tub was made from a spore syringe.. if so, as I gather, you can have a whoooole bunch of sub strains growing together in there and they can pin at different times.  That’s how you can get bundles of knotting myc surrounded by non-knotting myc... if they are indeed knots.

Hi Faht,

My bad! It was started off with 1-2ml of spores  from a 10ml golden teacher spores vial > syringed into the Rye grain jar > monotub etc etc

That’s super weird.

It kinda looks like those communal whatever contams. I can’t remember the actual name.

It does look like knots but it’s pretty odd to have so many in one spot and then nothing everywhere else.

I’m definitely curious what happens.

Defo! I haven't managed to find anything hugely like it anywhere else on these boards. I'll leave it another 2 or so days to see what movement occurs with it, i'll get a better macro shot of it too for on here
