Very narrow stem at the base of fruits?

This is the second flush, Transkei. Many of the fruits have a very narrow, fuzzy stem, but only at the base of the fruit near the substrate - then the rest of the stem is pretty normal. The above picture was taken a few days ago. Today, another fruit with this morphology fell over because the narrow stem base wasn't strong enough to hold it up. None of the first flush fruits looked like this.
Anyone know why this is happening? Perhaps some form of contamination?

That's a mutation due to contamination i believe. Name escapes me, been gone awhile

I believe it's bacterial.

I think it’s probably stress related, or from dryness. Especially since it’s near your Chernobyl zone.
I had the same thing happen when I let a sub go 7 flushes and was told it’s from the sub being so damaged and used up.
Water that thing!
Or maybe they’re just shreddin some gnar

Unfortunately these thin base fruits are all over the tub, not just near the Chernobyl zone (lol). I bottom watered with 2 quarts, one at a time; it sucked the first quart right up but didn't seem to absorb much of the second quart at all. So while the sub was originally too dry, it seems like it has been fully hydrated for several days now, since before the appearance of these fruits. I've been misting pretty heavily every day too.
I wanna ride one of those things so bad!
