Habitat: Where does it grow? Drier woods, although we had some rain yesterday. Growing out of leaf litter. Lots of yellow birch and beech in the area and a couple of monster hemlocks that were a good distance away.
Gills: Brownish, not attached gills
Stem: 1 inch length, about 1/16th of an inch wide, whitish bruising blue, seemingly solid, enlarging slightly at the base
Cap: .5 inches diameter, brown, with a darker umbo, convex
Spore print color: working on it
Bruising: Blue
Other information: Smells mushroomey and like the woods.

sorry about the poor quality pics!

That's what i was assuming, but didn't want to lead on an answer. Thanks! I was picking every lbm on my hike today; i think i'll have better luck finding magic mushrooms tomorrow.
Scored some Hericium coralloides (found a log with half a dozen fruits) and a hefty bag of other usual goodies today.
Also found my first Cordyceps today - it was growing from a fat, dark beetle pupae!
I'm loving this forum. Lots of cool people and endless mycological discovery.

Nice find. It seems like this species would be one of the easiest to overlook even if you're right on top of them.
Looks like some nice oysters and chants in the background too.

I probably never would have noticed them if not for the cluster of Chanterelles (all eviscerated by maggots, per usual hehe). I circled the area a bit too, but no luck finding more.
The area I was in was fairly high and dry - a small ridge between two mountain rivers, with minimal forest undergrowth. There was a large seep and mud flat/wet area nearby and we did have some rain. Very few mushrooms up there (snagged the oysters and Hericium coralloides up there though!) compared to my foraging near the rivers.
Thanks for your enthusiasm, folks!

On well-rotted beech (and a maple) I found about 100 today. Anything I'm finding that remotely resembles P. caerulipes is easily distinguished on closer inspection.
These are beautiful mushrooms! Nice to find some happy clusters of them.
Also scored a perfect multi-paddled chicken today!
