Can dissolved agar change water/moisture content of jar?

When the agar melts while colonizing grain jars, does it throw off or add to the moisture adding more water to the jars? I'm using some plates that I think I poured a little thick, so that's why I'm worried when I inoculate if that added water from the agar dissolving can cause any problems or it does not matter how thick the agar is?

To melt agar, you need a temperature of nearly 80°C, i hope you don't reach it in your jars
The agar wedge just dries out.

Yeah it just dries up and shrivels, it doesn't matter if its too thick or thin as long as its clean 😁

Even using super soft agar specifically so it would dissolve and coat the grain I never noticed problems.
But yeah normally you just find dried up wedges when you break the spawn up.

Right, but the gelatinous portion of the agar dissolves while the jar is colonizing, and then you're left with the dried up shriveled part. That gelatinous portion doesn't leave behind any added moisture when melting?
I'm worried because the agar may be a little too thick... That's what mine is, I made mine on the softer side, and I'm thinking too thick agar can throw off the content of the grain jar?

Did you drop a whole plate of ½" thick agar or something?

no, this doesn't work like that.

Nope. A wedge of agar might contain like what? a gram of water? your grains are prepped too wet if moisture is too high. And yes grains can look just right at first.

No, haven’t done anything yet, I have a T3 plate I’m growing out for inoculation soon, and I was concerned about the thickness of the agar on the plate. I usually just cut the plate into four quarters, and use two quarters per jar (half plate).

Dang I've been cutting plates into 8-10 and dropping one in each jar. If you're paranoid you could just use smaller wedges, but your thick agar shouldn't be an issue.

I just remembered that when I first started agar I made a stupid amount of plates for my first clone that just sat around for like a month. Then I had a grain jar that wasn’t assigned to a culture so I figured I’d use up these plates and put two entire plates in one jar.
lol if anything was gonna mess up the grain that would’ve been it.
Surprisingly it wasn’t all that much faster than using half a plate.

I once made some dark green coloured agar. While colonizing in a jar, it was slightly shining through the grains. I thought it was mold and nearly tossed it.

Those are big chunks. And if you want to use more than one chunk you would be better off cutting 1/4 of a plate into say 4 pieces and put them all in there. Then you get multiple inoculation points.
