Well I Just Confirmed Spore Clumps Do Germinate Faster

Knocked up 40 babies in quarts with about ~1CC each.
Shook those syringes up, thought I had a good distribution, but by the time I had the needle pointed the spores were already settling. The first or second jar of grain for each syringe would get a blatant clump of spores, visibly staining a few grains.
Four days later and those clumps are my first ones germinating. The rest look exactly how they looked after their first shake out of the PC. Exactly one jar germinated per 10, except for one syringe that shot clumps into two jars.
5/40 Germinated. Great success! Now please let there be enough spores in the rest.

If you’re going to do spores to grain you should use as few spores as possible. A few drops per jar would be ideal.

Wait what? When did that happen. Not the 1CC spread on 4x sides?

Hmmm... way back when I remember reading doing 0.25 CC per side of a grain jar.
If I'm doing quarts 3/4 full of oats, is it still a few drops?

Yeah. The idea is that since spore syringes are rarely 100% clean, the less solution you use the better your chances of success. Even non clumped you’ll still get a bunch of spores in your jar with a few drops and then you let them grow out a bit and shake to distribute the myc.
I think people trusted spore syringes a lot more back in the day. I’ve personally never had success going spore straight to grain but I haven’t tried it in a very long time. Some people get away with it for a while but I see someone almost every day posting a contaminated grain jar or bag that was inoculated with a spore syringe and every syringe I’ve put to agar has been very bacterial. They work ok for BRF cakes but grains seem to bring the nasty out.
