DIY dehydrated camping meals/hiking food ideas? * 1
    #26882568 - 08/16/20 12:28 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

Hello everyone. What's some good meals to prepare yourself, or even buy pre-made if they are good food and not full of preservatives?

Ive been on multiple day hikes or two day excursions and usually I bring steaks/sausages/bacon/burgers/bread and I would like to be able to eat healthyer and lighter (if possible).
I always have water sources along my trips so figured dehydrated good would be a good choice I can always boil some water up:)

I would like to hear what other people take for meals/snacks that you eat on your hiking trips. Hopefully good foods full of calories/energy and lightweight/compact for the trail
Any input is appreciated greatly.

Nuts, rice/pasta, cheese, jerky, avocados. Obviously you have to eat the avocados and cheese early but they'll survive the first few days. Since you only have to prepare the pasta you can eat on the march.

Thanks both this is quite helpful to add to my meal ideas, definitely gonna get some jerky or other dried meat.

Fruit yes gotta have some fruit, guess ill take what fruits I normally eat and just dehydrate a bunch in advance.
If I keep the dehydrator clean will it still make everything taste of shrooms lol?

Maybe. Give it the sniff test and see if u can tolerate it. If the smell is too strong, maybe u can try clean it with a natural soap and hot water?

Dont get the heating fan wet of course.
