ID Request - Growing on Horse Dung
    #26889588 - 08/20/20 07:08 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

Identification Request

Just wondering if anyone can assist with an identification of some wild mushrooms I found. as I’m an new to this scene but keen to find some psycho actives. Given these didn’t bruise blue I didn’t bother taking a spore print as I didn’t think they were actives, now in hindsight I wish I had.

HABITAT: Found growing in open grass field on horse dung after heavy rain and cold temperatures. Daily temps were high of 16 degrees C and nights were low of 3 degrees C.

GILLS: Dark purple to black

STEM:  thick and white. Slightly enlarged at base.

CAP: yellow / Brown. Mature caps approx 2 inches across.

SPORE PRINT COLOUR: No print taken

BRUISING: No colour change observed. Both picked and still growing mushrooms that were handled on stems and caps showed absolutely NO signs of bruising, even the next day.

LOCATION: Highlands of Southern New South Wales down near Victorian boarder, AUSTRALIA

See photos at the bottom of this post, thanks in advance and looking forward to the comments.

Mottled black gills with white edges indicates Panaeolus sp.

By the look of the immature ones, and the size of the mature, I'd suggest something close to Panaeolus semiovatus.
An intact, mature specimen showing cap, gills and the entire stem would be helpful.

Thanks for the ID Anglerfish, I checked out the details of Panaeolus semiovatus and I’d say your right.

Glad it’s not an active then as I’m back home now and the location is 5 hours away from where I live, I left hundreds of them in the field so if someone said they were actives I’d be kicking myself.
