Cool *completely* after steam sterilization?!

After steam sterilizing the BRF jars, is it important that they cool completely?
I just added spores to jars that were 95 degrees F on the outside. I assume the substrate was a bit cooler than that. Did I mess the whole thing up?!

Some will probably germinate but the core stays warm longest.

Good point.
I added them to the very edge of the glass. Saw it trickle down. I figure the tip of the needle gets even hotter than that - even after waiting 2-3 seconds following the flame.
Ahh fingers crossed.

It will be hotter in the middle, but it might be ok, it's always a good idea to wait until it cools completely.
Edit: once the jars start colonizing, the temperature will rise in the center by as much as 10 degrees Fahrenheit if I'm remembering correctly. so it's important to take that into consideration when finding a place to store the jars. It may even get hotter than that, for some reason I'm thinking it can be as much as a 20 degree difference between room temperature and the temperature in the center of a colonizing jar, but don't take that as fact because I really can't remember for sure.

I wouldn’t be surprised.
When I run manure shoeboxes for pans I can feel the heat coming off the bottom of the tub when I pick it up.
Op the needle is different, it’s super thin so it cools quickly, plus the water going through it will suck up the heat right away.
A big mass of brf will hold onto the heat for a while. Even coir in a bucket stays super hot in the center for a surprisingly long time.

Those are some impressive pictures a.k.a. Thinking optimistically (that these 10 cakes will all do well) - can you tell me more about what fruiting chamber / conditions / tek you recommend?

Well the first two are pans but all the rest are just a quart of wbs into a shoebox. You pretty much just mix them up and level it then put the lid on and wait. Super easy.
Top layer of coir at spawn makes a big difference for me too.
The last pic in the top row was my very first grow, I did syringe to grain and screwed the conditions up pretty bad and still got a decent flush. Shoeboxes are way easier than cakes imo, that pic proves it for me. I would’ve totally killed cakes by drying them out if I started with pf tek.

I don't put anything on top of my pan grow until substrate is fully colonized, then I put a casing layer of coir and straight into the fruiting chamber. I treat them no different than cubensis with the exception of a casing layer and Slightly higher humidity. After harvesting Panaeolus cyanescens in February with temps in the upper 40's to mid 50's Fahrenheit I realized that they're hardier than previously presumed, so. now I worry more about humidity and FAE than temperatures.
I have some research specimens that I need to fruit from grass pans I'm studying, once I get my spawn done I will post the growz in Journal.
