What did I find today in north GA?
    #26888258 - 08/19/20 11:54 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

Hi All!  I was out with my dog today and found these along side a concrete trail in a park in the Atlanta GA area.  They are old and beat to shit so I apologize for that.  I think I may have found P. Caerulipes but need you all's expertise. Not sure what the other more fragmented bits could id as.  Thanks!

Lets get some clearer pics. I think i may see some remnants of another mushroom in last pic that are not active.

Yeah that's a good idea thank you for that. These are all the pics I've got that I'm attaching now I've already made the tea but I haven't consumed any of it so even if it does contain a non-active in there it's fine as long as it's not going to kill me or an organ of mine LOL

Psilocybes usually don't break apart like that. Was it brittle?

Yes the light-colored one was fairly brittle  but keep in mind these were all thrown into one of those plastic dog poop sacks... which, btw, was quickly forced into my pocket once I saw a cop car circling the parking lot where I was parked. So although I am aware of confirmation bias these mushrooms and i I've been through a little bit together like Christopher Walken's character  and the pocket watch in Pulp Fiction.  LOL

What did they smell like? Caerulescens have an extremely unique smell to them.

I found Caerulescens before and honestly these did not have that same kind of smell. But these did seem very old and I'm not sure if things like the smell and the structural Integrity would be that affected by age.

Their is def a different odor to old/rotting specimens. I'd describe as chocolatey

They were a lot tougher although you can see that one got smashed up in my pocket pretty good... though it survived much better than the brittle one.

So unfortunately I had already next those all together to make the tea. I probably won't get this but if anybody knowledgeable enough to at least give me the high sign that a dark gilled  mushroom that seems to bruise blue and spore stain a white sheet of paper to a purple brown is safe to mix with the others then I'm good to go with that.

I just don't see caerulescens here man. I think the "bruising" is that spray on lawn fertilizer...seems unnaturally green.....
I think what I do see though is a old agaricus. IF and thats a big if...but IF they are agaricus you MAY be ok if you consume them even though you don't know for sure what they are.

I am 100% voting that IS NOT caerulescens

I’d chuck ‘em in that state. They might be caerulescens but no one short of Alan is going to come in and say they are for sure. Keep checking that spot, they’ll show up again...
