You're providing an excellent example of what I was talking about. I've said from day one, I happily wear a mask in public, because thinking of others is part of being a citizen. I am not required to wear a mask, I am required to wear a mask in order to use public spaces. I'm fine with that, because they're not exclusively my places. They're shared, and when you share something, there's a different standard than when you own it.

But, because I say it is legitimate to ask questions about our response, its effectiveness, and potential treatments, you assume I am engaging in all these other behaviors I have not stated I engage in, and have in other posts explicitly said I do not engage in. I'm talking about my right to hear the viewpoints of qualified medical professionals even if they disagree with the mainstream. To you, that's the same as saying "fuck you and your mask." That's quite a leap.

Because I am not a hive thinker like you are, I must be a hive thinker like they are, is your apparent rationale.

LOL, where i live a test costs 150USD to 200USD depending on where you go.

At that rate you can fuck off with me getting tested even if i know i have it. How many other people refuse to pay the money or just cant afford it?

or do you mean the paid one i can get through my work that doesnt cover dental and has a 5000 deductible?

come on. we get shit on coming and going.

neither option would pay for the test

I live 150 miles from the nearest major city. I dont wanna hear that shit. Time is still money.

Are you from the usa? because you obviously have no idea what the fuck you are talking about.

Yeah its easy to get free testing if you live by a major city, otherwise you have small practices that are only for these towns of a couple thousand people.

Why would i pay for insurance? I'm 100% healthy and would waste 1000's of dollars a year.

But, that's not what you're doing at all. You're accusing people who disagree with you that we're "living in fear". What questions did you ask about the response to COVID-19? What questions did you ask about the effectiveness of masks and other precautions? What questions did you ask about potential treatments? I don't see any of that shit in any of your comments on this thread. Other than one question you asked about "a new drug" (which you didn't even name), all I see is you accusing people of living in fear and making ridiculous rhetorical arguments, such as the argument that requiring people to wear masks is basically the same thing as telling everyone not to drive cars for three months (that's a ridiculous comparison, by the way). Then, you get all defensive and start talking like you have a persecution complex (like everyone is coming after you) when anyone disagrees with you or makes a counterargument to one of your claims.

If you have a specific question about the U.S. response to COVID-19, I'm happy to discuss it, and I think other people in this thread probably are, too. If you have a question about the effectiveness of masks (or washing your hands, social distancing, isolating for two weeks, whatever), then I think we can all discuss that question in a civil manner. If you have a specific question about potential treatments, then I'm happy to hear what it is. However, if you're going to accuse me (and others in this thread) of living in fear or trying to force other people to act against their own interests, and then get all defensive when I make a counter-accusation that you're being selfish, then that isn't going to end up being much of a discussion.

Forgive me for making that assumption, but in my defense, you're not making it very easy (in this thread, at least) for me to believe anything else about you other than the idea that you think masks are ineffective (or, at the very least, questionable) and that you don't think people should be legally obligated to wear one. When you say something like "And what scares me, is the people who think they should be able to decide what's best for me better than me," I interpreted that to mean that you thought that masks (or maybe some other preventative measure) were ineffective and that you think it's scary that other people are allowed to enforce a safety precaution that you don't think is effective. I think that's a pretty reasonable interpretation.

Let's go back to the car analogy, since it seems to be useful. Let's say that there was an emerging group of non-mainstream doctors who were coming out with studies that suggested that seatbelts were ineffective at preventing death in car accidents. Furthermore, they find that wearing seatbelts can cause undesirable side-effects for some people. Then, let's suppose I make a post on a forum saying "I think it's really scary that people think they can decide that it's best for me to wear a seatbelt when I know better". Would it then be reasonable to assume that I am anti-seatbelt (even if I, myself, wear a seatbelt)? Doesn't really seem like too much of a leap to me.

That's not a fair representation of my position at all. I don't think you're a hive thinker at all. I'm sure you construct your beliefs from your own unique experiences just like everyone else does. However, I think your accusation that me and other forum users who are in favor of mandated masks are "living in fear" is an unfair characterization, and I stand by what I said earlier when I said that refusing to wear a mask is self-centered. It's perfectly fine to ask questions, but be prepared to have a discussion if you're going to say controversial shit. You can't just say something extremely controversial and then act all surprised when people disagree with you or say that your position is bullshit.

When someone breaks every single sentence down with a paragraph of their own, I'm out. It's impossible to reply to that mess. Besides, it's quite clear what I said, I don't need to restate it.

My mom went to care for her sister a few weeks ago. My aunt has developed dementia and was living in bad conditions. My mom went and took care of her. Her house needed to be sold to have funding for healthcare so my mom took care of all the real estate stuff and got my aunts house sold, just today!

It has been very stressful for my mom. She had been fighting with other family members to take notice and care for my aunt but no one would take the initiative. My mom had been buying my aunt food as well as replacing a refrigerator and TV for my aunt.

It's a big relief to have the house sold and my aunt safe with other family members to look after her.
