I have upped my sodium intake to 8000 mg a day

On days I dont eat I supplement 8000mg sodium and 4600mg potassium, in my 710ml water bottle I put 2 teaspoons salt and 1 teaspoon potassium chloride and I drink 2 in the day
on days I do eat I do the same thing but I only drink 1 bottle (4000mg sodium and 2300mg potassium)
I read the book "The Salt Fix" by Dr. James DiNicolantonio, he is a cardiovascular research scientist, he has over 200 published papers, mostly pertaining to the benefits of salt and the evils of sugar on heart health
The book pretty much tells you to eat as much salt as you crave and to cut added sugar out of your diet
the book also goes over anti-salt studies and why they were flawed, my favourite is Lewis k. Dahl who hated salt so much he inbred rats to be sensitive to salt and used them to show salt increased blood pressure, but the equivalent would be if you bred a human to be salt sensitive and gave that human 40 grams of salt a day, in normal rats they gave the human equivalent of 100 grams and there was no difference in bloodpressure, because of this Dahl guy they cut the sodium in baby food because he said the sodium was causing infant death, when he gave his salt sensitive rats the baby food they would die of hypertension, so the food people cut the sodium in baby food never mind the babies were not dieing of hypertension, now babies dont get enough salt
he says that the sweet spot for sodium is between 3000 and 6000 mg a day, under 3000 you are at risk for cardiovascular events due to low salt diets dangerously increasing heart rate, and over 6000 is bad for some reason I dont remember him mentioning, I just take 8000 for personal reasons, he says if you let people consume salt uninhibited they tend to eat around 3000 - 4000 mg naturally, and that sounds right to me because before I read the book I took 1.5 teaspoons which is 3000mg, and that seemed like the sweet spot for me
I really reccomend spending the $20 to get this book off of Amazon, it may shift your paradigm around salt, and if it dosnt, I would love to hear your review of the book either way
its a short book, I started reading it in the morning and finished it before dinner time, I agree with like 99% of what he says, the only thing he said that I cant get behind is he wants to use suboxone to treat sugar addiction, I dont doubt there might be some truth to its possible to do that, but its like killing a fly with a shotgun, check out what he says
Quote:
A Possible Treatment Strategy For Severe Sugar Addiction
As a doctor of pharmacy, I have a unique perspective on the power of pharmaceuticals to help with our most entrenched health problems. The medication buprenophine and naloxone are labeled only for the treatment of opiate dependence, but I believe the FDA should consider this prescription treatment strategy for treating severe sugar addiction.(Note: These medications are considered controlled substances, so only certified prescribers can write prescriptions for these medications.)
Induction treatment of sugar addiction At first sign of sugar withdrawal, give buprenophine (a partial opioid antagonist/agonist), sublingual tablet, 8mg on day 1, 16mg on day 2)
Maintenance treatment of sugar addiction (generally day 3)
start with suboxone (buprenophine Plus naloxone) 2mg/0.5mg sublingual films or tablet (1 film or tablet under tongue once to twice daily)
suboxone may induce withdrawal if you try to ingest sugar (you may not get the sugar high, which may help maintain a sugar free diet); a target of 16mg/4mg for maintenance is suggested; titrate in 2-4mg buprenorphine increments
I think thats absolutely crazy, trading sugar for opioids, but other then that I love this book

someone buy it and review it in a pub post

That he would even consider recommending suboxone for sugar addiction is enough to hang the man.
If someone with no opiate/oid problem or tolerance takes 16mg they are going straight to the emergency room for an OD. I’ve seen people OD from just 2mg bc they were opi naive.
They make tablets of the stuff for moderate to severe pain...and they are dosed at .2mg. That’s not 2....thats POINT TWO.
This guys sounds literally retarded. Has no idea what he’s talking about

I thought 16mg sounded high, but wasnt 100% sure, all I know about subs is that people taper down to 1mg to jump, and they still have horrible withdrawals
