Somethings wrong with my tub, any ideas?
    #26882634 - 08/16/20 01:28 AM (3 years, 5 months ago)

Hey people, this is one of my current tubs equdor cubes.
Its 1 quart rye spawn 3 quarts coir/verm(70:30).
The spawn jar did look slightly dodgy but I've had jars that looked even dodgyer turn out to be healthy and the colonisation of the tub was normal duration but the mycelium did seem quite 'thick' and slightly aerial growing.

Everything is slow since the forming of pins, they developed slowly, the actual fruiting stage is going slowly as well... Somethings definitely wrong with it.

Just wandering if it's a good idea to take all these fruits once they've grown a little more and eat them, like would you eat them yourself or throw away?

Any advice is much appreciated

I just experienced this myself actually. The tub was bacterial so growth was slow and the myc went aerial.
Much more than what i see here though. The mushrooms were also without any major effect dispite turning nicely blue when picked.

How did you prep your sub? I'm guessing it's coir/verm/gipsum?

Did you eat your bacterial fruits, and were they healthyer looking than mine lol?

I hydrate 650g of coir with 3 quarts of verm into a 5 gallon bucket with 4.5 quarts of boiled water, mix it all up and leave for couple hours then remix and leave to fully cool with lid slightly latched.
No gyspum in the sub I only use it to soak with Rye grains and after the soak they get a good rinse with cold tap water before the boil.

Yeah i ate them. I'm still alive and wasn't sick
The potency was low though and the fruits looked like yours. This is the first flush, right?

The bucket tek is the way to go so it's probably the spawn (which it was in my case).

That’s an awesome pinset, sucks it’s going weird.

They look fine to eat to me, as long as they’re not covered in mold or bacteria goo I usually keep them.

mass abort, usually happens when you change something about your fruiting conditions at a critical point in the pinset. Ive accidentally done it when trying out a bottom watering experiment, in which dont mist until my pins come in and for their veil, and then I hit it with a substantial bottom water and it makes em grow really cool. Didn't make any difference and the final weight actually suffered but the point is, when you change fae or water content or temp too much at the pinset you'll scare the baby's and they die lol

It's going to be alot of trouble getting all the aborts off, and it will just be really slow growing again probably I just took what I can she's going to mushroom heaven now.
Lots of small fruits but hopefully they still have a good kick to em.

Stunted growth like that can be due to an over saturated sub. Dial back what you see as field capacity
