Have 1 jar that took off quick its now day 23 after inoc. I have a full on mushroom about half inch long getting fat in tge jar at this ppint along with multi headed pin and quite a few more along with pins growing into tge dry verm layer now. My issue is the bottom has splotchy mycelium and is now about 65% colonized on top of that with rhyzomorphic growth. Its the last part for full colonization but i do not want to waste what seems to be happening. Is it okay to skip the dunking portion of the birthing process and juat go straight into FC to let the pins and heavy presence of primordials finish out their cycle and then pluvk whats there and move on to the dunk at thattt point to start a proper 2nd flush?

Cool. Thanks for quick reply. The whole jar is basically like 98% colonized and i was told to skip consolodation period if i already have fruit popping out. Also.. Is it absolutely necessary to poke a bunch of holes in my FC? as id imagine juat leaving a corner of the top uncovered would have same effect juat not as much equal exchange of air. Exchange of air none the less though. Im a first timer and unfortunately I have no intent on buying a drill lol as i also didnt buy a pressure cooker either and it worked out fine.

Steaming is fine for BRF cakes but if you wanna step up your grows you’ll need the pc eventually, for grain and agar.
I wouldn’t make a SGFC just put some water or perlite in the bottom of a tub and crack the lid like you said.

So ive put it on foil on top of perlite in a 16 qt tub. Rinsed the cake as i had to break the jar open cause it wouldnt come out after some violent smacking as my first resort. In the process it seems all the pins that were goin are now a very dark blue and black. Ive never hesrd of black bruising but at this point having bruised some myc and the pins what shall i do ? I rinsed sprinkled verm all around and just placed it in there i have photod but i seem to suck at sharing photos on this forum. I have a reddit where ive posted them along with previous photo recording of the cakes life. I also noticed a sourish smell im not sure what proper mushrooms smell like but whatever i smelled was like a musky sour.. Kind of like old dirt and souring milk?? Idk

For pics you click on the PIC underneath your name at the top, click upload, then select your pictures and upload them. They should show up with URLs underneath them and you just copy and paste that into your post.
Cube smell is hard to describe but it’s mushroomy and sour milk sounds like bacteria. There is often bacteria in spore syringes which is why agar is so important. BRF cakes usually handle the dirty syringes well but sometimes there’s just too much or something particularly unfriendly.
It’s okay if the pins got roughed up, I’d still dunk and roll and wait for new ones. Unless the cake is badly contaminated
