I'm sure those hugs will be a great consolation to her as she lies isolated from you on her deathbed with a tube stuck through her throat if she catches a bad dose of the Covid's. And, perhaps, a great consolation to you that you get your inheritance early eh.
Edited the unnecessary harsh.

Working in a hospital unit where every patient had been on Ecmo and had a tracheostomy for at least 10 days. 4/10 under 45 years old.
But hey, at least they are not dead like the 1% mortality.
This is why we let trained professionals make the conclusion about professional topics. If your mom is an accountant, my 10-second-thought-through opinion is not equal to her lifetime of professional experience.
This type of shit is the epitome of Dunning-Kreuger stupidity.

I don't understand how some conflate acting reasonably and accepting that the virus is potentially deadly/harmful with 'fear'. We all know that cars are potentially deadly, and most treat them with respect - but that doesn't mean we live in fear of getting in one does it?
I don't know anyone, personally, who is in fear of COVID, and yet it is the fallback argument of every conspiracy nutter out there who feels they aren't being taken seriously to say 'stop living in fear man!'.
I tell you what gives me fear; the very people who espouse this shit. Those with a crusade and a messiah complex.
IMO, they've retarded out development as a species.

And what scares me, is the people who think they should be able to decide what's best for me better than me.
To compare cars to covid - covid has killed about as many people in the US as car crashes. Should we all stop driving for 3 months?
Where did you see me call "reasonable precautions" living in fear? I'm referring to people who are afraid of doctors posting videos and how the book I linked was banned by Amazon, until Elon Musk intervened. No one had to ask them to carry Mein Kampf, btw, they've always been happy to sell you an English translation of that, so fuck off with your "protecting me from bad thinking" stuff Bezos.

I completely agree. But since when have we - as collective drug users - ever given a fuck about what we're told about that?
I suspect for the most part, as a community, we would all like to be free to take whatever drugs we like. However I don't think many of us are dumb enough to start multiple threads saying that opiods aren't deadly - and the numbers (in regards to the harm they cause) are all made up - and it's all conspiracy to get us to surrender our control, right?

I agree with you on all that. I'm not saying Covid isn't dangerous, because I believe that it is. However, I also believe that evil people have used this as an opportunity.
Why do I need to be protected from a Youtube video, but children don't need to be protected from violent entertainment?
Why is a newly-developed (and therefore less understood) drug that costs almost $3000 being pushed as a treatment, but doctors espousing success with a $100 cure, with drugs that are well understood from decades of use, are being censored and fired? They have been treating patients with this regimen. Where are the deaths and lawsuits for malpractice if the regimen is harmful?
I could go on, but my point is, these are reasonable questions to ask. Asking them doesn't diminish the severity of a Covid-19 infection, but many people react to those questions as if it does. Our inability to discuss each others' views without name calling and extreme reactions is a force multiplier for the virus.

Interesting. Wish I had a mother like that and would do something like that.
Am estranged from mine but she is Mormon and if one wants to spend a lifetime of that innate need of making mom happy I won't do it.
Will find a lovely wife that will be a great mother and raise a kid to be free.

I use common sense. Yes if I get the virus I will more than likely be fine BUT I really dont care what happens to me. I am concerned about the old lady I walk by when I go out to get food in case I am asymptomatic because that is somebodies grandma.

A bit of respect for others and some common sense.
Goddamn that's refreshing.

Wouldn't it be more responsible to expose yourself to the virus and build up an immunity?

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

It's my moms birthday this week, Wednesday. I'm going to take my little dog and let her play with mom as a birthday present. She really loves sushi.
That's my dog, Sushi.

Mom turns 65. She loves sushi almost as much as I do.
She goes on about getting close to drawing social security.

No, but you should:
- wear a Seatbelt
- drive sober
- don't drive while sleepy
- drive at the speed limit
- put your phone away while driving
- obey traffic laws
- keep your car well maintained
These actions won't eliminate the risk of dying in a car crash, but they will help reduce that risk. They will also keep other people on the road safer.
Since COVID-19 is similarly life-threatening, as you've said above, we should take actions that will help reduce that risk:
- wear a mask, especially when going indoors in a public place
- wash your hands frequently
- don't gather in groups larger than ten people
- keep six feet of distance whenever possible
- if you feel any of the known COVID-19 symptoms, isolate yourself from others for at least two weeks
These actions won't eliminate the risk of dying from COVID-19, but they will help reduce that risk. They will also keep other people safer.
Nobody is asking you to live in fear. All we are asking is that you take reasonable precautions that will reduce the risk of death. I am not afraid of COVID-19 (I'm really not afraid of death, actually). However, if there's something I can do that will potentially protect other people at minimal inconvenience to myself, I will do it.
Having said all of that, I'd like to flip the tables on you. The problem isn't that people like me are "living in fear". The problem is that people like you are so self-centered that you aren't willing to take reasonable actions at slight inconvenience to yourself that could potentially save another person's life.

Not even close, and cars aren’t infectious diseases. Fucking moronic analogy.

This is what concerns me often. I guess such sentiments were not so overtly visible before a pandemic, but I'm fairly shocked by how many humans seem to have such disregard for the welfare of other humans.
I probably shouldn't be surprised, and in a way I'm not, but it's a saddening.
