Most interesting job you've ever had?
    #26882122 - 08/15/20 06:10 PM (3 years, 5 months ago)

By way of introduction, I have been looking for a job. I've never been a rich man but I've never found it hard to survive, I just jump on every opportunity that comes my way like I'm a starving cheetah and it's a two-legged gazelle. So along the way, I have had some interesting jobs. Not great, but interesting. Was asked in an interview about the most interesting job I've ever had, and the interviewer had been raised on a farm. He had some interesting job stories to tell from that.

I dug graves with a shovel, not a backhoe, for a number of years.

I worked in pretty much every event venue in Indianapolis, but the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was the coolest place.

I worked as a contractor to the gubment as a professional amateur. I would be given a subject, and told to learn all I could about it in six months. Then, I'd explain it to people who knew even less about it than I did six months ago. Could be dull AF, but was often interesting. Paid to travel and talk to actual experts, so it had fringe benefits.

What's your most interesting job? Doesn't have to be a cool job, just an interesting one.

I love building windmills. Shit hasn't gotten old yet. I learn something everyday.

I get to fuck with the biggest cranes, tens of thousands of volts and almost everything can kill you. It's great.

As a mechanic I see all types of internal failures, physical destruction, engineering designs, stupid fucking people, as well as hot ass bitches. As far as the work I truely learn something new every day and happy to gain the experience.

What qualifications/tickets do you need for erecting wind turbines Ahab? Is it mostly rigging and electrical, or more just general construction at height?

Depends what you can do. Right now the industry is so busy they'll hire anyone that can climb a ladder everyday. We have electrician, riggers, torque crews, commissioners, fiberglass technicians, rope access guys. Tons of different areas to be proficient.

Hmm. I was chatting with an exemployee of mine a few days ago that just lost his job in the mines. He's worried oil and gas is a dying industry and wants out. I might suggest that he checks this out. I imagine there'd be some tree climbing skills cross over, as we'll as the tower work he did on the rigs.  Seems like an industry with huge growth potential.

They are limiting our time off and buying back vacation days until the end of the year. Its safe to say we are crazy busy.

I worked at K-mart for a bit and now I'm an electrician/electrical contractor. My current job is interesting and pays better than I could have every imagined. Probably more than doctors. Learn new stuff all the time and meet new people everyday.

The only job I ever needed was a blowjob

i worked for developmentally disabled adults for almost 3 years in Sacramento CA. i have some weird and interesting stories. my second week on the job i had a guy pull his pants down and start masturbating and within seconds he began to defecate all over the floor.

i did some private, in-home care for one of my clients and one time her sister thought it was good idea to give her an edible while i was caring for her and the sister went to the movies. within an hour or so the client began nodding out and was barely conscious. i was beginning to panic and was rapidly calling the sister to come home.. her phone was off so i had to call 911.. the ambulance came and i had to explain what was going on but i couldnt say anything about the edible because it is illegal for the sister to give her thc without doctors orders or the womans given consent.

edit: i was fired from the in-home care postion because i argued with the mom about what i should and shouldnt be doing in regards to her care.. or it could have been the fact that i left my drivers license on her dresser with drugs underneath it when i stayed overnight once.

I interned at NIMH and worked on a study to search for immune differences in schizophrenics. I ran immuno-assays on organs I had to harvest from rats I would have to kill with a guillotine. I also spent a day a week on the ward with the hospitalized schizophrenics. My supervisor was a Nobel prize winner.

I machined quartz pannels that were 5×1.5 meters long and i had to program in CAD all the machining sequences and it was all diamond water fed tooling and the machine was like a giant CNC with a pond and sunction cups and if was as big as a living room. I did it some years.

What were the quartz panels for? Assuming scientivic purpose by why did they need to be so big?
