Slight fermented smell before pc?

Hi there. This forum has been a great resource for me and I have done a lot of reading on this topic and I don’t necessarily see anything that matches my issue. Any advice would be great.
Today is Saturday. On Thursday I prepped my oats and loaded my jars. There is a slight fermented smell in some of the jars. A few of the jars smell a bit stronger and have a little bit of white gooey stuff presumably it’s the oats beginning to break down. When I PC it Should kill off whatever is causing the fermentation correct? Will pc stop fermentation? I also thought about giving all of the oats a rents and reloading the jars. Please any advice thank you all so much

Did you soak the oats? That can cause the smell.
If it's too bad the PC will do little IME. I'd start again without the soaking.
Edit: didn't read you prep them a couple days ago. Same, if it's too bad I'd start over.

I used bods easy af oat prep. Just wasn’t able to go straight to PC. Kind of hard to define one too bad is. It doesn’t make me scrunch my nose up and they don’t Look bad at all. Just never smelled anything Other than fresh oats and myc.

I don't know if telling you to toss them is the best advice, but at least that's what I would do for sure.

If they're a little fermented it's fine, you can add 15 mins to your cycle for peace of mind.
The worst I've gotten away with (don't recommend) was letting oats soak for three days. Smelled kind of like apple cider vinegar and farts. I added an extra 45 minutes and it was ok.
