Early Mycellium Growth Or Mold?

I'm just getting started in trying grain spawn, so I'm a big noob. I had a colonized jar of mycelium and pc'd some more to do a live transfer. Within about a day and a half I noticed some growth. Is this unusual, and is it contamination or just early mycellium growth. I've posted a picture of what I'm looking at, ignore the clumps of white in the background they look the same, they're just out of focus. IMO it looks spikey, which to my understanding cobweb mold tends to overlap and act more like a blanket. I'm not sure though and would like a second opinion.

Think i see hyphae(each of the branching filaments that make up the mycelium of a fungus) so should be mycellium

Thank you for the confirmation. I believe then it is mycelium, but I'll keep an eye on it

Update on the jar. It seems to have grown some grayer looking strands. Is that still mycelium or contams? My guess is that it is mycelium. But the stark contrast between the initial white and later grey gives me doubt. This is what it looks like now

Yeah that be mold unfortunately.
You said a “live transfer” so did you go a grain to grain to this jar or put like a piece of a cake in there?

I don't know if it will help you, but I found no end of contam doing substrate/grain jars and trying to go from jar to jar. To the point I gave up and went to agar instead as you can clean out contam off an agar sample in a lot of cases, then you can drop those nice clean samples onto fresh grain. I've been told (noob here too) that it reduces the contam and wastage and on agar you can transfer sections of one sample to many other dishes so that you always have that sample in back up if you have one bag/jar go bad. It makes sense to me as you are limiting potential hidden contaminants in the transferring sample. Anyway just a thought, and thanks for sharing it's great to see how others are going

if this was G2G, show us the jar you transferred from
was it a clean white culture with at least some rhizo and ropey type of growth?
grey molds rapidly colonize, stops the mycelium
having a hard time imagining this coming from a fully colonized jar
sounds like someone is trying to transfer away from the contam,
from unfinished jars.

Id avise to not toss it away right now.
Watch it grow more and shake it at about 30% colonization. If it recover that myc.
Also not all myc look the same(bright white and ropey) especially when theyre running.
