Noob convert from Uncle Ben tek to PF tek questions please!

First and foremost, I appreciate the tough love and wisdom you guys share. Not fun to hear the truth, but I want to learn.
I have been researching PF tek, and I have just a few questions:
1) It says in the guide that "Then remove the foil from the jars and wipe down the top and sides of the jar with a paper towel soaked in ISO alc."
What I don't understand, is that the holes are not covered, so if you wipe down the tops with alcohol, does this not get alcohol into the holes and thus into your substrate/spawn?
2) I don't read any mentioning to cover the holes. Are the holes big enough on their own for Fresh Air Exchange? And secondly, after injecting the holes, I see no mention to cover the holes with micropore tape, or anything of that sort. Aren't you supposed to cover the holes with something to prevent contams?
3) I assume this is better than Uncle Bens because you can see through the jar without having to sniff it to look for contamination?
4) I don't fully understand the spawning to bulk aspect. I don't think I want to spawn from the jar itself unless this is recommended. Will it work if I pasteurize coco coir, then break up the PF Tek jar in a 6qt monotub, mix with the coir, and spawn from there, just as if I was using a Uncle Bens tek?
5) Can I use the same room to prepare these jars that I left some bad Uncle Ben's bags sitting in for a while? Assuming I use a SAB?
6) Is it best I ozium this room and leave a window open for a day prior just to "reset" the room?
7) Is it ok if I use a window and daylight for fruiting if I do not have a light source
Thanks guys <3

1.do all this in the sab. id just put all your jars in the sab with foil on still. then dampen a paper towel or 2 folded over by spraying it with iso then remove the foil and gently wipe around the lid and the holes. dont press hard to where ur gnna be pushing liquid iso out or anything just give them a wipe. then flame your needle outside the box and bring it into the box when red glowing hot and inject a cc or so into each hole then if you want to re cover the holes with micropore that would be fine if it gives u peace of mind but just 1 lil pc is all per hole. the dry verm is a filter of sorts and will act as a barrier but as far as gas exchange goes thats all you need. gas exchange and fae are 2 different things at this point u want gas exchange. be sure to re flame your needle between jars not between holes between jars👍 simple as that man
that basicly takes care of 1-3. anything is better than uncle fuckin bens lol l
4. yes u can spawn to a bulk substrate by grinding or shaving the fully colonized cakes. a cheese grater works great ppl say. and you would prep the coir as normal and instead of grains being your spawn the cakes will be. in my opinion cakes are not good for spawning but its ur grow.
5 the room dont matter. just shut off all fans and heating and ac units close all windows ect. NO MOVING AIR. at least an hour b4 working in the sab.
6 you dont have to but a lil ozium in the room aint gnna hurt but its not needed.
just prep your sab and load all your supplies and work clean amd fast youl b fine

thanks brother. So no micropore tape is needed, right? Also, I only have two more questions I don't quite understand. I'll be using 4 oz jars (not 8 oz jars) and so:
1) How many cc per hole (with 2 holes) should I be injecting. Maybe .25cc in each?
and
2) I do not have a pressure cooker. So I read to layer lids under foil and then boil the jars. Well, the lids of these jars are very small, and I don't understand what this does. I do understand the purpose is to not have water touch the jars. So I'm a bit confused about sterilizing without a PC.
edit:
3) Also, do I leave the jars in the SAB to colonize? Or move them to a closet or something?

.25cc is good, especially given how easily you can mess up moisture content in a tiny 4oz. jar. Elevate your jars above the water with something to avoid water entering jar while steaming them. Use a pan with a tight fitting lid and put a weight on it. 90min at full steam is fine for those little jars. Just set them somewhere where they won't be disturbed or knocked around to colonize. No need whatsoever to do so in the dark but it won't hurt if you put them in the closet.

you can use mp tape if u wish but u dont have 2. but just dont be fuckin with the jars too much. spin them on the surface they r sitting on to look its not good to pick them up and flip them upside down and every which way

the dry verm is a filter/barrier so u dont wanna be shaking shit up and disturbing it cuz it will help keep contams out

Stepping up.
Might as well go for tubs. Not much more difficult than pf tek but a lot more boomers for your bucks.

If your PF tek works then 100% cheese grate your cakes into a shoebox. You don't have to wait for your cakes to consolidate either. Just as soon as they are fully colonised take them out the jars, rinse off the dry verm layer, shred them with the smallest holes on your grater, and mix with your pasturised sub. It's a very easy and a great upgrade to your grow.
My shoeboxes just sat out in my room and got ambient light. They were away from the windows to avoid direct sunlight.

Whats the difference between grating and just breaking it up with gloves? Thats what I always do and don't seem to have problems but if the cheese grater provides a better surface area to mass ratio and allows for quicker colonization I'd be down to try it

also, good job on ditching the UB and moving on up. Didn't see an answer to your question about storage but you don't need to keep them in the SAB. Move em to a closet or wherever is around 70-75 degrees

My cheese grater really shredded it. The only comparison I have to breaking it up with hands is when I crumbled my old subs into the compost, and I have to go over it a couple of times to get it down into small, consistent pieces. I feel like the grater is a quicker more reliable way to shred the cake small.

PF tek just seems a bit too complicated for little gain if you shave pf tek into shoeboxes with coir later. Your whole kitchen will be messed up making the initial cakes. With your UB tek you inoculated grains and spawned to bulk. Simply do the same now with other grains like rye.
But then again I have never seen black mold before, thanks PF tek!
