About to inoculate some jars, quick question about micropore tape please

I see in the video tutorial the man tapes the micropore tape on the jar inoculation holes prior to steaming/pressure cooking. My question is, after doing this, must I peel the tape off? Does this not potentially introduce contaminants?
Is it recommended I puncture the tape with the needle and just leave it there, perhaps?
I read it's best not to retape completely as this slows GE and colonization.
Just wondering what the best method is here as it is unmentioned in the video tutorial.
Thanks

hey i"m a complete noob but for my first grow i Just put the micropore tape on before steam sterilizing and put two layers of aluminum foil over the jars while sterilizing then took foil off and just inoculated through tape and let it be..had no problems whatsoever..no contams and fast colonization..if anything I heard you can take the tape off after 80% colonization to speed things up

Appreciate it, so if I understand this right you just pierced a hole through the tape and left the tape on?

Tape isn't even necessary. A layer of foil twisted tightly over the lid/band works just fine, ffr. Zero reason to tape after. The dry verm is a perfectly sufficient barrier.

If they're BRF jars with a layer of dry vermiculite, you don't need the tape once they're out of the PC/steamer. You don't even need it in there, as long as you've covered the lids with foil.
The dry vermiculite works as a filter layer- if something drops in one of the holes it lands on the verm rather than the BRF, doesn't find any nutrients, so can't grow/germinate to a point where it's a problem.

I prepare the lids before putting them into the PC.
1 small hole stuffed with polly fill and then another 13mm hole with an injection port. Cover with foil before cooking it.

I recently 3d printed a mold to make injection ports from normal caulking silicone mixed with cornstarch. Dont know yet if the caulk will hold up in the PC yet. Will know tomorrow.

Foil tightly over the lid while PCing, left on until inoculating. But after that the dry verm layer takes care of the contam.

I cover with foil, cook in the PC and then promptly and quickly inoculate and cover each hole with micro pore tape once the jars/PC are fully cooled. I also have a dry layer of fine grain vermiculite as a double safety.
